I liked the Goodwill of yesterday much better when they would hire disabled people to work in the store repairing the donated items and cleaning them to make them more presentable.
Today, Goodwill get's Federal Government Dollars (from title 19 of the Social Security Act) supposedly to do "Job Training" for the disabled. But they no longer TRAIN on job skills. Rather, they attempt to train their clients on "How To Find A Job" using the various job search engines online. That is a duplication of services because there are already State Agencies that do that job for EVERYONE in every state in the country.
So the end result for Goodwill is that they sell JUNK that people don't want to pay to have hauled to the dump. It is not repaired or cleaned and sometimes, I wonder if it's even tested before being put on the shelf. "Put on the Shelf" means dumped in a heap and not always categorized.
Lastly, they now think they're a retail store and price according to "NEW" Price points for many of their items. I've seen completely USED ice chests with price tags the same as they sell for new at Walmart. I used to be able to educate them as to the value and worth of certain items and they would negotiate the price to something more acceptable. They no longer will do that and even seem to be insulted if you mention it to them.
I no longer even donate my items to Goodwill and prefer to donate to local charitable thrift stores who don't get...
Read moreI went to this Goodwill to look for camo pants to cut into shorts but they had none. They do have alot of overpriced items though. I don't agree with Goodwill's prices any longer. I mean come on, they pay NOTHING for the items they sell. You cannot get lucky anymore and find things of value because everything that comes through the door is looked over by experts and all the valuables are now auctioned off on eBay. Don't believe me go to eBay. They have huge gold chains , high end designer bags etc auctioned off for thousands all day every day. They're auctions never stop. Pair of jeans they got for free are no longer 3$ they're minimum 6$ they are no longer a good place to shop. Greedy company. Oh and I paid with a very real 20$ bill and the girl ran it through they're scanner and it wouldn't take it as I had been working and I guess the bill was sweaty. I was told I needed to pay with a real bill. I WAS ACCUSED OF TRYING TO PAY FOR ITEMS AT GOODWILL WITH A COUNTERFEIT 20$ not pleased with the woman who accused me. You could plainly see it was real as it had magnetic strip in bill but she still made me pay with...
Read moreI was shopping today because of the holiday & because Goodwill has finally brought back the color tag specials - however, my experience while shopping wasn't the most pleasant at checkout. The employee had an attitude from the beginning and it continued throughout my transaction. She was offended because I had purchased books & had to recount them to be sure she counted correctly because I had forgotten to add an additional one I found in my cart. I realize that on busy days things get a little crazy, but I didn't appreciate the attitude. On the other side of my experience, the actual shopping for clothing I found that most items are over priced for the condition & brand - $5.99 is a bit high for something that is clearly used in any clothing, personally I feel that most of the shirts, blouses & tops should start at $3.99. Copperas Cove Goodwill is a great place to shop but they need to consider their pricing efforts for their clothing & normally the employees are very pleasant & quite helpful if you...
