I love this course. It's one of my favorite places to play. They've expanded the parking some, which is nice, and they recently finished a big course maintenance project, which is nice, and it didn't change the layout. My only complaint is hole 11. I lost a disc there, and I've wasted A LOT of time looking for them in the past here. I lost it with a nearly perfect shot, and that just shouldn't happen. The hole is a blind 90 dog leg to the right, throwing uphill to the corner, with the dog leg being downhill to the basket. A really good turnover or a sidearm will get you there, but for this hole you MUST HAVE a spotter. My shot was basket high, missing the chains by a few widths of the disc, so the disc went long into the rough, never to be seen again. We looked for 30 minutes. With a spotter able to say where it went in, it was gone. Rough is fine. Even really, really thick, terrible rough is ok sometimes... but... that kind of rough at the bottom of a hill, inside circle one, on a blind shot is just plain stupid. STUPID. That combination is ignorant. Other than that, the course is GREAT! Lots of natural rough, plenty of variations of shot shapes, ace opportunities, and holes to let it fly, plus a designated putting...
Read moreA beautiful property, the Altmaier course is a wonderful addition to the community. Very well maintained fairways. I'm shocked that no one else has mentioned the Absolutely STUPID amount of poison ivy here, though. It's Beyond Rampant. Just understand that if (when) your disc ventures off the fairways, whether it's only by a foot, five feet, twenty feet, whatever, it WILL be landing in/atop/amongst poison ivy. And your will be having poison ivy brushing against your ankles and your legs. 100%.
Play on, but get home and wash with soap and hot water as soon as possible to avoid an agonizing week or two. And no, I didn't get covered in poison ivy. It's just that I HATE the evil plant and this course (not the fairways) contains the most dense concentration of poison ivy on the entire globe. I'm...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite course in the area, it's a great course that's well maintained, and the layouts actually get changed somewhat regularly.
As stated by others this course is more challenging than it might initially seem, you have to play technically if you want to remain under par. There are a variety of different styles of holes allowing everyone an opportunity to shine.
Tees are concrete and are fairly large; the baskets are Mach X.
I'm including a picture of my step tracker after one round though, 98% of the recorded info is from the course. Can't wait to come...
