Midwest Mattress — Hotel in Coralville

Now that it’s been a bit more than a month since receiving and sleeping on a 14” Gladbrook full-size mattress (and bed frame) from Midwest Mattress, it’s now possible to leave a thorough review. The selection of the mattress and the transaction with Michael – and I regret not knowing his last name – was great. Michael is indeed a credit to Midwest Mattress. The sale was complete in probably less than an hour and would have taken less time if I were faster at texting: that’s how the entire transaction was conducted, by text, a first for me. I did quite a bit of research online and after recovering from the sticker shock of seeing how much a basic bed costs today, compared to the last time I shopped for one, Midwest Mattress was uniformly less expensive than all the other sleep merchants in the Iowa City area. The purchase price for the mattress and frame was actually lower than I’d been prepared for, a most welcome surprise. The delivery and assembly were just fine; Midwest Mattress’s crew were personable and professional. The mattress has been terrific, all that I could have hoped for, very comfortable and relaxing, and I honestly look forward to going to bed at the end of the day. Was doing a little assessment of places to buy a bed and everything associated with it for some friends who were moving there son down to I see to start med school. I figured they’d have to make at least two stops to get everything they needed. I walked into Midwest mattress And was completely blown away by the fact that they had everything needed to set their sign up with a really decent bed. Tons of mattresses from high-end to ones that roll up for transport. Only had one choice for headboards, but it was one that would work for almost anyone. The thing that really impressed me was the fact that they have all the linens needed so that after putting together the bed, it would be ready to sleep in that night. The salesman was extremely helpful. I was asking about delivery, and he made me realize not trying to arrange that in mid July for August 1 was pretty impossible. At that time, even if you have bought everything you need there, there is such an influx flux of students moving in that there’s no way they can time is it deliver to everyone within that within that 3 to 4 day period. The sales staff in store were good until it came time for delivery. First, they let us select the delivery day and wouldn't tell us a time so we basically had to set aside an entire day until the night before when we were told a 3 hour window. The day the bed was supposed to be delivered, we received a call that they would be there in the next 15 minutes. Almost an hour later, we received a call from the store that they wouldn't deliver because the road was too slippery and they were sliding all over. If they would have attempted to drive down the road, they would have turned around at our place so it was clear they didn't attempt it. We, along with our neighbors, had been in and out several times that morning without any issues. The next available time was a week later and it would have been the same scenario - set aside the entire day until the night before. We ended up cancelling our order and I was surprised there was no attempt at service recovery - not even an apology that things didn't work out. We ended up at another local store just down the road and had almost the exact same mattress for less money less than a week later when the roads were actually...
