My family and I went to LongHorn for dinner, which is a rare treat for us. We all ordered Ribeye, which is our favorite cut. The service was excellent, and since we arrived a little early, the atmosphere was peaceful. The bread, appetizers, and salads were all fantastic. There was a problem when the steaks were delivered. My family members who ordered ribeye steaks enjoyed theirs, but mine was dry, lacked beef flavor, and was tough. I also noticed that it had an unusual shape for a ribeye. I've had similar experiences with steaks before, so I tried cutting further into the meat, but it didn't help. It wasn't until later that I realized the steak I received was a New York strip. I mentioned this to our waiter, who said he would check on it. The manager came out to ask about the issue. He said they cook the strip and ribeye on different grills to prevent this type of issue. I don’t know if that is true or not, but I was still convinced it was a New York strip. They offered to cook me a different ribeye, but my family was mostly done with their meals. So, I declined. When we received our bill, I told the waiter if this was a ribeye, then it was by far the worst one I had ever eaten. I am not young and have eaten my share of steaks. At this point, they put a discount on our bill.
When I got home, I looked up the two cuts. Sure enough, what I received matches a New York strip. Could it have been a ribeye? Yes. However, I am convinced it was not a ribeye. The other two ribeye steaks were the proper cut, which is why they tasted great. My wife even tried to get me to take half of hers! In this era of high inflation, taking my family out for dinner can be quite expensive. In the end, with the discount, I got a very good salad, crispy sprouts, which were also good, and a very poor-quality steak, which cost about $20 even with the discount. It was a was a complete waste of money.
I came in looking forward to a great dinner. I left in a bad mood that lasted into the evening. The next time we go out for dinner, we will be looking for another steak place. The manager and our waiter were both nice, but this does not cover the expensive and low-quality meal.
I rated food as one star due to the one steak. Service was rated at one star since, while they were nice, they would not admit to a problem. Atmospher was rated as three since while LongHorn is nice, it is nothing...
Read moreTook someone out for a late birthday dinner. We got an appetizer, 2 main entrées, 2 alcoholic beverages, and a dessert. We went around 4pm, and sat at the bar, on the very left, low seats. Not busy at all for a Saturday at this time. For the appetizer we got the Firecracker Chicken Wraps. Comes on chopped Romaine lettuce, served with diced tomatoes and house ranch. I don't recall what they are wrapped with, but it's a spicy mixture of what seemed to be a cheesy pureed mix (chicken, cheese, spice). Reminds me of a wanton wrap, but with a spicy chicken filling. Renegade sirloin was awesome. He asked for it medium well, and it came out perfect. It was peppery, but not spicy. Tasted like it was grilled well. Wasn't chewy at all, had a really good tenderness, was easy to cut, and easy to eat. Barely any fat. Fries were seasoned similar to the steaks (steakhouse seasoning, like a cracked pepper). Steakhouse Mac and cheese had garlic in it, parmesan cheese, and bacon but it tasted like it was a bit too garlicky. Not horrible, but a bit overbearing. He saved the rest so it didn't overpower his steak. Sweet potato was amazing. Just enough butter and brown sugar. Flo's Filet and Lobster tail was fantastic. The lobster tail was super easy to pull out, but because I let it cool too much before I ate it, I decided to take it with me and heat it up properly later. Flo's sirloin was asked to be medium. It came a bit rare for my taste, but as I eat my meat on the rare side sometimes, it didn't bother me. It almost melted in my mouth. I got 2 piña coladas. Very tasty, blended very well. Average price (about $8.50 each). Finally, we got the dessert, Chocolate Stampede. LORD ALMIGHTY! HUGE portion! 2 big scoops of vanilla ice cream, and 2 VERY LARGE slices of chocolate cake. So good, but as we were getting full, we took most to go. I was so full I forgot to take a picture of it until I was getting it put in a to go box. Worth every penny! Will...
Read moreWe used to come here for every birthday in my family, but the quality/enjoyable factor has been dropping off more and more. We just have been giving it "one more chance, one more chance", but I think we've run out of grace.
Started out promising- parking was easy, we were seated quickly in a booth, as we requested. We asked about a senior discount which we were told they had, but nothing was discounted from our bill. We also mentioned it was my mom's birthday, but it wasn't brought up again - I thought they used to have sundaes for birthdays?
We weren't even completely sat down and settled when the waitress was over asking what we wanted to drink. Longhorn has discontinued Rootbeer altogether, which is what my mom solely drinks at most places.
The waitress was back quickly with them, we ordered the Texas Tonion, and I had to quickly ask for bread before she was gone again. The bread loaf is a pitiful size now and (minor point) we didn't get a knife for the butter. We ordered our meals and the Tunion came. Waaayyyy too much seasoning on it for 2 of the 3 of us.
Meals came, my mom's steak looked like the sole of a shoe to me - super thin and tough. My brother enjoyed his, but the fries were too seasoned even for him. I ordered chop steak with extra mushroom (no onion), with sides of broccoli and rice. I found onions on my dish, and the rice was too flavored. Even the broccoli had so much seasoning to it that I couldn't eat more than half of my order.
The waitress did keep us with drinks and checked on us occasionally. When she asked if I needed a bag, I told her "no because it's too seasoned for me, so I won't be able to eat it." She came back and told me she took it off our bill, which was unexpected and nice of her.
All in all, disappointing dining experience but I'm not surprised remembering previous...
