Five Guys — Restaurant in Coralville

I have loved Five Guys for over ten years. Always searching for location on road trips. We finally got our own in town, just in time for a global pandemic. I finally decided to order once I saw they had curbside pickup. I followed the instructions, ordered on the app and then called once I arrived. I called, and called, and called some more. It seemed someone would pickup the phone and then promptly hang it up with no answer. I sat in the lot for twenty minutes, even pulled right up to the curb in front of the windows, in my bright yellow car, so the seven employees, who were not busy, couldn't help but see me. I am confident they could see me, but stood in side having fun. I had already paid and ended up leaving with no food. A major disappointment that they were so unprepared, or just not in a mood to serve. I tried to call to get a refund later, but of course they didn't answer. I then called Five Guys national customer service and they took my complaint, but haven't heard from anyone yet. I would advise customers to be prepared to go in the location, where employees do not wear masks, or just wait a year for when the pandemic is hopefully over! If zero stars were possible, I would have give a zero...

Five Guys is always a solid go-to, no matter the weather! The place is clean, the vibe is chill, and the free peanuts while you wait are such a fun little bonus—perfect when you’re starving after a long day.

We ordered a cheeseburger loaded with all the sauces, and it really hit the spot—even when it’s -15 degrees outside. Next time, we’d probably skip the cheese since it is a bit oily and keep the mustard for that tangy kick—it added just the right flavor boost. The best part about Five Guys is the endless customization, so you can make your burger exactly how you like it.

And the fries? Classic Five Guys—crispy, golden, and they give you so many it feels like they’re just being generous for fun. Perfect for sharing!

Burgers were good, fries were great. Loved the Cajun Fries, not too spicy just good flavor. Be ready to spend a small fortune. It was $50 for 4 burgers (2 of them small sized for the kids) and 2 large fries.

The wait was long. It was almost a 30 minute wait. I couldn't stand outside because they don't have a way to call out the numbers so you can hear it outside.

They did have Social distancing guidelines posted and spots marked on the floor. All workers were wearing masks, but most customers weren't. We are taking social distancing seriously, so between the long wait time, having to stay inside, and how crowded it got in the 30 minutes I ended up being pretty uncomfortable.

Their website is not the best for mobile ordering. Next time I'll call in my order when I am on my way. They do have curbside pick-up, which I will take advantage of next time.

I would visit again, I've just learned my lesson about wait times...
