I would never send my child back here or recommend this for a child. It may be better for a family camp, but donโt leave your children here. My family wonโt be going.
My 10 year old was left to be supervised by the camp staff while his church counselors were in a meeting. The staff did not clearly communicate the directions to the students and let 4 kids walk right out the front door. While on his bed waiting for cabin time (which he thought was next on the schedule), other students told him about a gun they found. The boys then immediately reported this to an adult and instead of being thanked for doing the right thing, they were sent home for being bad kids. This gun supposedly belonged to an off duty police officer that had left it in his safe without changing the generic code to the safe.
Instead of receiving a call explaining that my child was safe and apologizing that he was put in that situation, I got a call to pick up my son because his cabin was being sent home for finding a gun on campus.
His very first church experience was completely ruined. This is my obedient, rule following kid that sincerely thought he was doing the wrong thing but was consecrated for it instead.
The camp did not express any concern to me that there was a gun on campus where children could easily find it (in less than 10 minutes apparently). I assume it was loaded but was given no information because they didnโt feel it...

I also appreciate that they have made attempts to improve the destruction that they caused. After revisiting the site and going through the trail, I can see they have made a big effort in a timely manner to try and right the wrong. There are some areas of the trail that could still use improvement, and I hope they continue to make those improvements. However, because of their prompt response to the situation and attempts to fix it I am switching my 1-star review to a 4-star review. I don't know anything else about the camp but their efforts thus far to resolve an unfortunate situation deserves acknowledging.
(Original review) What kind of Christian camp teaches kids to destroy public land and ruin a decades-old hiking trail for an entire community?! They recently illegally drove their big dumb 4-wheeler onto public land and had a field day tearing up the land, completely ruining a beautiful flat trail in through the woods in Crestline that is now useless. So sad...
ย ย ย Read moreI went to science camp, and it was really fun. My cabin leader was faith. She was so nice. The cabins were also cozy. I didnโt get to go on rock climbing since it did rain, but the hikes were fun and beautiful. The only reason why I gave 4 stars is because of the food. It was okay. The eggs were mushy and cold. Breakfast was a 4/10, but lunch was 10/10. We got hot dogs and sandwiches by our leaders, Daniel and Faith. They also gave us Oreos, fruit roll up, chips, and caprisun. I also like how they tell us to eat our oranges before eating any of the junk food. The dinner was also amazing. We got pizza, but the pizza crust was hard. It was still good and the desert was nice as well. One time, we got churros and they were cold and hard. Overall, I rate the food a 8/10. This place was really nice and the staff is also...
