What a great experience we had here at the cozy North Shore Inn... From check-in to check-out, our concierge, Abdul, gave us great service answering all our questions and making sure our room was stocked with all the necessities. Our King room with fireplace (and provided firelog) was better than expected with aforementioned fireplace, mini-fridge, coffee maker (coffee and creme included), and patio for 2 over looking an obscured lake view. They're right across the street from the lake, the local grocery store, 7 Eleven, and right next door to Toni's Kitchen (Mexican Restaurant with excellent portions and tasty food)... Everything is pretty much within walking distance of this hotel. We walked around the lake every day, hiked to Heart Rock a short drive away, visited Lake Arrowhead Village (7 mi away), and really enjoyed our fireplace; we bought a second log from the grocery I mentioned earlier for our second night... Forgot to ask if the Inn would provide another one...Since the Inn is so small there was parking on the backside right in front of our room for easy unloading/loading of our belongings. I thought the value for the price we paid was on point and if I have any niggles about it, for our particular room, the water closet, toilet and shower co-located (vanity separate) ,is tiny and the toilet in particular is so low to the ground my 6'3 self almost needed a parachute when dropping to the throne. Great for kids, but not for adult couples who this room seems to be focused for. Also, there are plants right outside the door housing mosquitos, so be careful not to leave the door open during mosquito season or they'll be more than happy to join you in your room, like they did us...I wish the darn things sucked fat instead of blood... Anyway I didn't see these issues as a reason to dock any stars for the review as our overall stay was excellent and we'll definitely be coming back... If you're bringing the family, I'd highly recommend planning in advance if you want to stay here as the Inn is very small with just a handful of 12 rooms or so... If you want split rooms for kids and parents definitely plan in advance as they only have 1 set like this next to each other. Cozy comfort, walking convenience, and plenty to do nearby make this little Inn a great choice for your next trip to...
Read moreSo normally I don't like leaving negative reviews for places, but honestly interacting with this company was one of the worst customer service exchanges I've ever had. My family and I had booked 2 rooms a month in advance for this location as a first leg of a longer trip. I booked through Agoda and received a confirmation email that admittedly I took at face value for the tag line of conformation and did not open. I never received any emails or indication the reservation had any errors. Two days prior to the trip, I began collecting emails and double checking reservations and noticed the reservation for this hotel was made for the wrong date which had already passed. I immediately called the hotel and asked if we could credit the amount already paid or switch the reservation to the correct day if there is availability since we paid well over $200. I want to prelude here that my husband owns a small business, and I've worked for hotels, so I know the economic implications following no-shows if the place is sold out. That was not the case here. After speaking to the front desk gentleman twice, he said nothing can be done because we booked through a third party, call them. I called Agoda and they sent emails to the hotel offering to adjust the reservation. At that point the manager said there's nothing that can be done because the date had already passed, but offered a discounted rate. While it wasn't ideal, I understood where he was coming from and agreed to make another reservation with the front desk attendant when he came. I received a call from him and the rate he offered was the exact same rate we had paid to begin with, and also the same rate found online for that night. I want be clear this conversation took place over the course of several days and a lot of shifting blame based on the involvement of the third party. Agoda was very understanding and immediately did what they could on their part to resolve the issue. These people were unyielding and honestly just rude. When they offered the discount of what was already available online we just decided to stay...
Read moreThis location was superb for our 3-day stay in the area for a wedding. We were only 10 minutes and a few miles away from the venue. ||The rooms are small but cozy at the North Shore Inn. Ours had a small veranda with a view of the tree-blocked lake and overlooked the small business area. The hotel is close to eateries, a fabulous grocery store (Goodwin & Sons), 7-Eleven, McDonald's, and the local Crestline Cafe (great food). There is a Mexican restaurant next door but we didn't get to try it. ||There isn't daily cleaning service, but you can ask for whatever you need from Abdul who seemed to run and maintain the place. (We got fresh towels and garbage bags as needed.) ||A small refrigerator is in the room, along with a coffee maker, bottled water, and snacks. Refills for the snacks, bottled water, and coffee packets are available upon request. ||On arrival, we had a problem with our refrigerator (it was brand new) that caused concern, since I keep my extra insulin refrigerated. Abdul could not get it working, so he got an electrician to pop by within 10 minutes to get the appliance operating. Abdul was very helpful, friendly, and respectful (always called me Maam---and in a nice way).||The towels were decent, and soap, shampoo, and conditioner are offered. ||My only complaint was that there are tons of decorative pillows that just get in the way in such a small space. (I threw them in the closet.) Management should trade them in for some decent (more firm) sleeping pillows. ||The price was reasonable for the area, especially because we got a 10% discount for being senior citizens (65 and older).||Not sure if we will ever be back in this area, but if I decide to buy a small hotel or B&B, I would definitely hire Abdul...
