On a quest to find the best deal on whatever, there's 1 question you have to ask yourself.... is it worth it?
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the place was hoppin'. The small establishment was packed with people. For them, business must be good.
The trouble started when I went to look for Playstation games. At first, I went to the left of the store. The place was filthy. I've seen better cleanliness on the shelves of a Salvation Army. The impression I got was that no one seemed to care about the place. Everything was just thrown where ever it fit. The shelved looked as if they came from a Wal-Mart that went out of business. Everything was just filthy.
I soon learned that going left was the wrong way. I went back to the other side of the store. The Playstation games were mixed in with DVD's and Blu-Rays. This made it difficult to distinguish what were games and what were movies at a glance.
Again, everything was thrown wherever it fit. The games I was looking for were near the bottom. With the shelves as low as they were, you almost had to lay on the floor to see what was there. Given the cleanliness of the store, that wasn't an option.
Looking through the games, many of them were missing discs. The ones that had their discs were scratched to hell. The prices I could see were close to the lows on Amazon in some cases. If you're a collector, this isn't the place.
I did look behind the counter. They had some 3DS and 2DS systems. They were system only without any cables. This was a red flag for me as the lack of cables means I could be purchasing a dead unit. Within the counter, they had a few classic games. Like everything else, these were just thrown in the case in such a manner that I couldn't tell what was what nor how much it was.
The employees was the major catch for my business. There was an air of "I'm better than you" in the way they carried their selves. Something also felt a bit shifty about this location. This type of shifty that makes you not want to give your credit card number or show an ID. I've been to tons of pawn shops across the state. I have never felt hesitant to give my credit card or have to show ID before.
There's just something about that gut feeling that you just listen to.
Bottom line, I'm taking my business elsewhere. I would not recommend this...
Read moreBiggest scam ever I went to bring in my silver coins worth a decent amount and got offered 90 bucks which wasn’t worth it at all but I needed the money and I told him I wanted to pawn and he ended up selling it and this wasn’t the first incident with the same guy!! Read moreMight be a good place to buy stuff (at near retail prices) but skip this place if you're looking to pawn or sell something. I took in my Dean Electric Acoustic bass (fat bottom) with a brand new soft case (retail $60 w/tag still on) and was told that since it was "dinged up" (one scratch on top of body under the neck), the next was "bent" (even though when I had the truss rod adjusted a few months back, it was fine), and let's not forget the ever popular pawn shop rip-off line, "and these just aren't selling right now"...I was offered a whopping $30 "tops" for the bass and the case!!! I tried my best to compose myself so as to not be rude and laugh in front of him but I could tell he CLEARLY didn't know what he was talking about. He claimed that you could find them online with a case brand new for $180, even though they still go on ebay USED for $200. And yeah, I know how pawn shops work so I checked ahead of time. The whole experience was laughable. I have a nice Fender Jazz bass I'm tempted to bring in just for the sheer comedy of seeing them try to price that one. My guess would be $100 for a $1,500 bass. :)
There's a Pawn America down the road a little bit, south on 81 so keep going and skip this...
