This review is a bit late cause honestly I never thought about leaving a review on a hospital till now but in hindsight I think its kind of important that said I made the mistake of going to this hospitals ER this past valentines day I never go to any ER unless its really bad and it was. I had woken up gotten out of bed and felt a weird "popping" in my side after that the pain just got worse and worse until I couldn't lay or stand or hardly move!
Me and my friend Uberd over cause its the closest to my home we got there he got me a wheel chair as I couldn't walk we go in I gave them my info they told us to wait in the next waiting room to be fair the 1st one was kind of full now mind you I'm ok with waiting my turn however in the mean time the pain got so bad I started passing out between dry heaving mutable times..
Matter of fact it got so bad I actually had fallen out of my chair once in the bathroom my friend was upset cause apparently he had told the staff all this and was just told that they "were busy" there "wasn't much they could do"? I finally told my friend to wheel me outside in the vestibule between the doors so my cries wouldn't upset anyone.. So we get to the doors I'm pretty much passing out dry heaving and crying in pain at that point non stop till a security guard showed up like what the hell? I'm in the worst pain of my life they pretty much ignore me and then call security on me? Nice..
It was at that point I realized they had no real interest in helping me for what ever reason so we called a Uber and went over to Froedtert in oak creek talk about night and day soon as I got there they were kind I still had to wait a little bit but nothing like at lake!
I was triaged almost soon as I got there and in the room in under 45 mins and soon as I got in they gave me something for pain so I could stabilize a bit it turned out I was passing a kidney stone I wasn't sure what was wrong as I also have bad hernias and a history of having them become infected and rupture something that we had also told lake! honestly I was so scared that it had happened again but no turned out it was a kidney stone. thankfully the kind Dr and staff at Frodhert helped me until it passed..
I don't know what the issue was/is at Aurora I understand they have to tend to everyone that's fair enough but if some one comes in with excruciating pain and starts passing out maybe just make sure they can even wait?
I know ill never be going back there unless I have no choice and its in a ambulance cause that's about the only way your getting seen ide hope..Terrible I guess lake thought I was faking it? No clue as I say unless you go to this place in a ambulance don't bother even then if you have a choice don't do it good chance you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited this facility tonight (or rather, last night, as it's now just past 12 am) to recieve emergency care for my toddler who unfortunately desperately needed stitches.
After being sat in the waiting room for over an hour, a triage nurse FINALLY took my son's vitals and attempted to apply a new bandage to keep the bleeding contained. As I watched her do it, I noticed that she didn't apply any sort of antibiotic or cream to the wound before applying gauze. This should have been my first clue.
After sending my husband on an errand to keep my eldest busy, I sat with my young child and observed passively at all of the patients who vocalized their displeasure of how long they themselves had been waiting. A few even asked staff members if they could get a time estimate, and were told frankly, they had no idea how long it would be.
Once my husband and eldest returned, I observed that it had now been over two hours that we had waited. Mind you, I had still not received any paperwork to fill out in regards to our visit, and I saw, several times, people with lesser injuries being seen before us.
Growing impatient, we called Froedert in Drexel Town Square to inquire about their business level at the ER there.
We attempted to check out, but, as they were drowning in current and still arriving patients, I spoke to a very tired looking nurse in passing to inform them that we were seeking treatment elsewhere.
At Froedert, we were given a room and initial observation almost immediately. My disdain for the Aurora facility was cemented when our new nurse attempted to remove the bandage and it was stuck to the wound due to improper application. The wound would then proceed to fully reopen, literally pouring blood.
I couldn't help but express my discontent about the Aurora facility to anyone who would listen. The staff at Froedert was extremely sympathetic.
The Froedert hospital had us checked in examined, imaging done AND read, and stitches in place in the same amount of time that we sat waiting at South Shore.
My advice, if your emergency is an EMERGENCY, do not go here.
To the Aurora St. Luke South Shore clinic: hire more medical staff, PAY THEM ADEQUATELY, and let those poor tired...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy 18 year old daughter was taken by ambulance from CHS to South Shore. She presented very noticeable signs of stroke including: Entire left side of her body was numb, she could not walk by herself, she lost vision, she had a terrible headache on only one side of her head, and her blood pressure was abnormally high. She was taken immediately into an ER room where she was questioned. She had an IV put in her arm. She was asked if she was pregnant, and she responded no, that she has been on birth control for 6 weeks. A urine test and blood test were done. She was taken for a CT scan, but we were told that they would not add contrast because she was "TOO YOUNG TO HAVE A STROKE" and that they only wanted to check for bleeding in her brain. When she got back to the room, they checked her speech and gave her meds for her headache. Less than 5 minutes after that she was throwing up and I went to the nurses station to inform them and I was told "Well isn't there a garbage can in the room?" PA came in and told us that her urine sample indicated she was dehydrated and that she was being discharged. (If you had a dehydrated patient with an IV already in their arm, why wouldn't you give fluids?) Her discharge papers stated she had Paresthesia and that we should check with a neurologist if that didn't go away... (we were just told she was dehydrated and that was nowhere on her discharge papers- but now we have a new diagnosis that no one discussed with us...?) Took her home, symptoms got worse. Took her to St. Luke's on 27th Street and in the ER the first thing they did was a CT with contrast- Immediately showed she had in fact had TWO STROKES. Was admitted and treatment started immediately. Spent 10 days at St. Luke's (27th St) with the most amazing team of nurses, doctors, NP's, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists, and we are so lucky that we knew better than to trust the diagnosis at St. Luke's...
