The food is still good for a reasonable price, but the service used to be much better. I live in Cudahy. Andrea's always was a great place to get a quick meal in the area that is surprisingly good. In the past we have even eaten there with big groups of relatives around the holidays, birthdays, after school concert dance recital, etc. I have recommended Andrea's as a great place to bring a family or a group and prior to this year I would have rated it 4 or 5 stars.
Since the fall, we've had forgotten/incorrect menu items or the food took a little longer than usual almost every time that we have come. But our waitress was always friendly and apologetic and the mistake was quickly remedied. However, last Saturday we had an uncomfortable experience. After doing house projects all day, we were having a late dinner with our 2 kids. We arrived around 7:45pm. Our waitress was new, but she appeared extremely unfriendly. I had a sore throat and asked for green tea (which I've had there before)- she didn't think they had it. When she asked if I wanted her to check if they had it and I said yes, I could clearly tell that it wasn't the answer she wanted to hear.
When we ordered, I asked her opinion between 2 items. She glared at me, but then suggested the ravioli, which I really liked. My husband ordered the lasagna, which is his favorite item there. The food took a little longer than usual. By the time we got it, the tables of people around us had left and the staff had started vacuuming. We were starting to wonder if we had been forgotten about, but the food finally came and it was great.
Then it all went downhill. The waitress kept bringing food to our table, but she never took any dirty plates away. We were sitting in a corner booth and had plates across the entire table for the whole meal. The waitress kept walking by our table, but didn't do anything when she came- she didn't remove plates, fill my husband's water, ask us how our meal was, or bring the containers we had asked for. (She did mention 2-3 times, "Oh, I need to bring the containers", but kept appearing without them). When our desserts came, there was no place to set the bowls, so we had to eat holding the bowls above the table or stack it on top of one of the dirty dishes. This was very difficult for my kids to do and they both got food on their sleeves and my 5 year old got food all over his coat.
Shortly after the containers finally came (placed on the table beyond my reach), another waitress stopped by our table and apologized for dumping out the coffee- she didn't know there were still customers here. I told her, "That's OK. We weren't waiting for coffee- we were waiting for containers." She passed them to me with more friendliness than the other waitress showed us all night. The moment my son finished his last bite of ice cream and I finished taking care of the leftovers, our waitress stormed to our table In Her Coat and said to us, "Did you know that we close at 9pm?" We were speechless. It was 9:12, but as someone who waitressed during my college years, I know that you are supposed to serve people until they leave (not at the moment the outside door locks), but she is new and she probably doesn't know that yet. Plus, if she wanted us out sooner, she should have cleared away the dishes, brought the containers sooner, etc.
I found the receipt under a dirty dish on the table- she must have brought it before we had received all of our food. While we paid our bill, our waitress marched past us and out the door. My husband joked that she must be late for a date or maybe she just doesn't like people. One or both of the statements may be correct, but there is no excuse for her rude behavior. When we left, the pile of dishes on the table was still there. I felt so sorry for that nice waitress that probably cleaned them up for her.
We are going to wait awhile before visiting Andrea's again. At that point, either this waitress will be more experienced or she will have moved on to a job where she doesn't have to...
Read moreI have NEVER written a bad review before but here it goes and I will be sharing this on multiple platforms for exposure and warnings
Went in there for breakfast I like to try a new place I haven’t been to every week cause I love food of course.
Came in was sat right away. Coffee and all. Popped open my book. I ordered the steak and eggs. I understand diners aren’t fancy places but that’s what I like about them straight and to the point.
First round. I get my steak I ordered it mid-rare I get these aren’t classically trained chefs so obviously it’s not going to be right on point all the time. But it was well done and when I say none I mean ZERO seasoning and it was covered in grease. Waitress came by and I just asked to get one just with a little more pink in it no big deal I’d pay for both as I get places like this food cost can be high.
Second round, I get my steak and when I say it was grey, it was GREY inside and out and completely raw and had all the fat and sinuet enough for the entire case of steaks they had. Yet again ZERO seasoning and it was covered not in butter but the fry butter they use for hashbrowns I know that consistency and orange color very well lol. So I could not eat that.
I told the waitress it’s ok it’s not your fault she was stressed but she wasn’t the one in the kitchen. It was big portions so the eggs and hashbrowns filled me up pretty good it was fine.
Got my check went to cash out I told the person at the register I’m just not comfortable paying for this I’d pay for the eggs and hashbrowns special no big deal. I even had a crisp $20 in my pocket for the waitress so she could put her mind at ease a little bit.
The owner came up and said NO you are paying for this, excuse me?! No I’ll pay for the eggs and hashbrowns coffee and juice I drank but those steaks were absolutely gross.
He started SCREAMING at me YOU HAD A NASTY ATTITUDE THIS ENTIRE TIME IVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 35 years. Yeah ok sir then train your kitchen better also I’m not paying now lol.
He proceeded to go and CALL THE COPS on me still yelling at me in front of people YOU NEVER COME BACK WE DONT NEED YOU HERE. Like ok dude just run me up for the $10 I owe you and now I’m not tipping. Sorry but you ruined that for your server.
I had my head in my book the entire time and as most people know I am a VERY heavy tipper and known even as a customer to clear plates and cups at bars and restaurants even if I don’t work there and no one is available to lend a hand as I know they get busy.
Absolutely horrible experience. Never in my life have I sent back food not once BUT TWICE and screamed at because of someone else’s incompetency.
I will be posting this on other platforms and making my reviews. Also to add I’ve managed numerous restaurants; am a trained chef and butcher. So you may have 35 years sir but your customer service and food products do not...
Read moreI was on my way back home from driving a friend to his PT appointment, and after scanning Google for restaurants, decided to stop by in the town of Cudahy, not really sure on the pronunciation of it, but regardless glad I did. Our stop for some grub was known as Andreas Family restaurant.
We were seated promptly and had an amazing Albanian waitress by the name of Sylvia. She handed us a very extensive menu, which consisted entirely of breakfast food. When I looked online at the menu, I thought there was lunch as well, so I asked if they had anything for lunch, and we were given another menu just as big.
We tried a few things from the menu just to get a better idea about how the food was, and everything was superb, from appetizers to dessert.
For the appetizers we got a combo platter consists of your choice of 3 appetizers. We chose the mozzarella sticks, zucchini sticks, and broccoli cheddar bites. The broccoli cheddar bites was cheesier than most I've had at other places and the zucchini sticks were great as well. Unfortunately not many restaurants have it on the menu.
The soup and bread that the meal comes with us tastes very fresh. The chicken chipotle wrap had a big spicy zing to it, but it tasted amazing. Crispy chicken enveloped by an herb tortilla to give it a subtle earthy taste. The crispy fries complimented the massive wrap nicely. Their chipotle sauce was an added bonus, because it really completed the meal.
The Hawaiian Burger was amazing from the first bite to the last bite. It had so much flavor I couldn’t get enough of this burger. The patty was definitely bigger than a 1/2 pound and was cooked to perfection, the ham had a nice smoked taste to it, the pineapple had a nice grill taste to it, the swiss cheese was thick and melted just right and then topped off with BBQ sauce. I mean this burger was freakin' delicious! I highly recommend the Hawaiian Burger!
As for the sundae the pineapples were a great touch. All in all I can't wait to come back and sample some more of their amazing menu. I will probably be going back in the...
