Ashley Mercantile — Local services in Cullman

Very kind people. I purchased a very nice mug there, and they could tell me anything and everything about how to clean it and where I can use it etc. After I left, I went to the coffee shop next door and bought a coffee. When I walked back out on the street, I was trying to get situated with my coffee and straw and other things in my arms and ended up dropping my $25 mug that I just bought for my mom for Christmas. My dad was with me and he picked up the bag and walked us back to the store to buy another one. He knew I really wanted to get my mom that mug because she loved it so much but didn’t buy it for herself. When we walked in, Dad set the bag on the counter and we went to find another mug( keep in mind these are beautiful, handmade mugs) that looked similar to the one I bought earlier. Everyone working there was concerned and immediately tried to help us find one that looked closest to the other one. Once we found one, we walked to the counter to pay. A man who was so kind and helpful wrapped our new mug and handed it to my dad and said, “Merry Christmas.” He didn’t make us pay for that second mug. We were both shocked. We walked outside and I started to cry. I was so grateful for his kindness. It’s not very often that you come across people with such big hearts anymore. My Dad hugged me and and told me that they just earned themselves business for a long time. He couldn’t be more right. I will never forget...

I have never visited this store personally nor have I met the Ashley’s in person, (I live in Douglasville Ga) but the Ashley’s are good honest people with outstanding morals. My 18 yr old son lost his brand new iPhone 16E while we were kayaking in Piedmont Alabama on June 1st 2025. No insurance on the phone and making payments starting 6/17/25. Yeah it was that new. Lucky my son had it in a water proof case that failed to float. The Ashley’s daughter found the phone while looking under water for treasures on July 6, 2025. Over a month after being lost. Mr. Ashley got the phone charged up and notified me that his daughter found my sons phone and where could they send it to. . This family went above and beyond and sent my son’s phone to us first thing this morning with a tracking number. Asking nothing in return. A rare trait that you barely find in people these days. A cute, rustic shop. Everything in the store is locally made, which is fantastic and unique. The owner and his mother were there. She was extremely helpful, and willing to explain each product and where it came from. They were willing to answer any questions I asked. They have home decor, some food items, toys, K cups, and different novelty items, plus more unique things, you wouldn’t find anywhere else....
