Sweet Peppers Deli — Restaurant in Cullman

For the most part the food is good. There have been some major issues over the years with this restaurant serving soups that arent even proper serving temperature. In fact, the soups are almost always ice cold or room temperature. Every time I order a soup, I have to send it back to be reheated because it isnt warm enough. The flatbreads are by far the best items on the menu (which is quite large and varietal). If you're looking for something else though, the "Sicilian" sandwich is always a great pick if thats something you're in to.

The service in this establishment is mostly welcoming. However, the past few times I have come in, it seems that they are understaffed in the front-of-house, and are ill-equipped to handle the amount of customers dining in. They also seem under-staffed in the kitchen too. Speaking of the kitchen, I have heard talk that the kitchen room does not have proper heating, which may explain why the soups are almost always cold or room temperature when they are served. (in winter-time that is).

The dining area and bathrooms are almost always clean. This being said, when they are understaffed/overly busy, there are always a significant number of tables that go un-bussed/un-cleaned because the restaurant policy is for the customer to leave their finished plates on the table when they leave. This creates an environment where the limited staff have almost no time to properly buss tables whilst taking food orders at the counter and re-filling drink orders. To these issues, I suggest that you install trash cans and buss tubs at every entrance/exit to cut down on cleaning time for the stretched-thin staff, and install a self-serve soda/drink dispenser so there will never be multiple lines forming for...

Some of the teen workers are very rude. My mother went in for the hiring sign & the boy told her she was too old . They only hired younger people. I went up there to speak to the owner to see if this was the case or not. I recorded the whole interaction. The boy lied. The owner said for my mom to come back up there,but she never got a call back. My mother is a very hard worker and not hiring someone because of her age is discrimination. I use to eat here,but will not support a business that hires rude teens & backs them up PERIOD! I have plenty of time for a return call when the owner returned the following week. That's been 3 weeks ago & nothing. As far as the food it's okay. A little pricey for what you get. It's a deli...nothing special,but a good inside environment to have lunch with friends& family. Wow. I use to love coming here with my family but over the last few years it has went downhill. You would think this young generation would be the ones with such horrible attitude but it’s the complete opposite there. I forgot our waitress name but shes brunette and freakishly tall. Anyway she was beyond rude. I asked for my soup to be sent back because it was so cold and when she brought it back it was still cold so I let her know and she rolled her eyes and took it back. Disappeared for awhile so we finally just left. This is not the first incident that has occurred with this lady either but it was my breaking point. We will not be back and after I tell my Facebook group this I doubt they will be back as well.
