The short version of why I give a one star is this; Disrespectful and unnecessary hostility from employee.
The long version: My boyfriend and I had simply walked in to trade in my PS4 to purchase a refurbished Xbox one S, the cashier began inspecting my system and controller. He started by hooking up the controller to their "controller app"(as he called it later on) I watched him plug it in for less than 2 seconds, without even testing the analog sticks or buttons and he comes back to me to say that we would have to pay a refurbish fee due to the controller not passing their "test" (mind you I had also just been using the controller that had been working damn near perfectly before we left the house) it would have been acceptable either way, had he of even looked like he attempted to make sure he was 100% certain that there was a problem. This prompted a question my boyfriend had who was also going to return a pre-owned xbox controller he had just purchased less than a week before this encounter because as soon as he brought it home and synced it, it was not working properly at all. He couldn't understand how a perfectly working pre-owned controller didn't pass their test but a pre-owned controller that clearly had issues could be passed into being re sold. Now I can understand that one employee can't take the blame for another's possible mistake, but instead of having the people skills enough to answer a question from a customer, he decided to treat our confusion as hostility, my boyfriend was clearly stating his frustrations more so with gamestop itsself and in no way made the situation personal....the cashier heard otherwise and decided to not only kick us out of the store but refuse to give a name to be reported to a manager or corporate but also threatened to call mall security.
Never have I personally had issues with associates in a gamestop but this encounter along with their already clearly scammy policies is enough to make my boyfriend and I completely refuse to ever return to this or any location in the future.
Just a friendly suggestion: if you can help it always check your online options before even bothering with Gamestop in general...you'll be so less...
Read moreI had purchased an Xbox One X end of August 2022, decided I wanted to trade it in early November 2022. When I brought it back in the disc eject was not working according to them, I will be honest I had only used the disc tray once or twice, but it still worked. Most of the gaming done on this console was game pass gaming. Obviously, I was sold a faulty console, and according to them the warranty had just expired. I had purchased all my Nintendo Switch games and all of my consoles from this GameStop. I understand that things happen, being sold a faulty console happens. But I was a loyal customer, they refused to help me at all. Every time I went into the store, the employees acted like my presence was a nuisance. I will take my business...
