I have been to Hallmark before, but this time was exceptional. They have really expanded the selection and variety within their store. While they have their known standard fare - greeting cards, ornaments, they also have soaps, oils, wind chimes, and service oriented (military and public service) gifts. The latter was a wonderful surprise. For those not wanting to spend an exorbitant amount on getting cards, they even have cards that start at 99 cents. Their customer service was above and beyond! They were attentive, kind, but not pushy. So with all of these factors coming together, i will definitely be back. One last note - joining their reward program can help you to earn money toward future purchases, and they even allow members to get a free greeting card (out of a set selection) every Friday. Getting something free once a month end great service??! That's worth an extra star! Keep in mind, Banners had expanded their local market. They have a location in Stafford and in Woodbridge. While they both offer exceptional products, the customer service at Stafford FAR EXCEEDS that of Woodbridge. In fact, my most recent experience at the latter has led me to say i will no longer spend my money there. Worse, that decision came after working with the Store Manager. So I had no recourse to resolve the situation. In fact, i was actually shocked by it. What happened? As a member, i am to receive a coupon for my free card per month. Well, I didn't receive the email this month. So when i mentioned such to the manager, she shrugged as though such was not her problem, nor her concern. So I and my relative (each with our own memberships) declined to pay for a card we should have gotten for free. More interesting, she was able to see the available coupon dollars on my account, but she couldn't see that I nor my relative had redeemed the free coupons? Her dismissal leads me to believe it was a deliberate overlook. So I will overlook that store location from now on and drive the 25 miles from there to Stafford to get the better attentive service. I am not accustomed to management being so dismissive, especially at a place in the business of greeting and care. Should she be replaced, then I may return. Oh, one additional matter, listed at the registers is signage stating "Give us your Email and we will give you a FREE card For All New and Existing members". Free was even pronounced in a different color (grey, since the printing was in black and white). When I asked the store manager about that offering, she said we didn't qualify because they already had our email. So what then does existing imply? How curious. But all of this led to my decision to go elsewhere. When they first opened (the store was under different ownership at the start of the year), i liked Woodbridge and was glad for the change. Might they have been under different management? Possibly. But now this current manager with her dour disposition and dismissive mannerisms brings a different energy to the store that was not previously there. Since COViD, I have gone to this Woodbridge store four, five times for different gifting needs. But this sixth visit was distasteful. My gifting needs will be fulfilled elsewhere, even if that means Walmart or a local grocery store if I cannot get to the Stafford branch of Banner's. I might not always have the Hallmark seal, but at least I might have the assurance my presence is...
Read moreI visited this store today with my two toddlers, hoping to find a meaningful Father’s Day gift. I had barely stepped inside—less than two minutes—when the man behind the register glared at us and told me to “control” my 2-year-olds, stating that toddlers are not tolerated in the store. His tone was harsh, and his attitude was shockingly hostile, especially for a place that markets itself as a gift shop—presumably a welcoming space for families.
I was heartbroken and frankly outraged. I came with every intention to support a local business, but instead was made to feel like a burden simply for walking in with my children. The other employee behind the counter said nothing, offering no support or courtesy.
I left immediately, upset and deeply disappointed. A store that claims to be family-oriented should never treat families this way. I urge others to reconsider supporting a business that shows such blatant disregard for parents...
