I decided to make a change in my diet, and so I searched for a reputable seller of figs. Having scanned a number of online market places, I was disappointed to see the number of unenthusiastic one star reviews for various sellers; rotten figs, maggot infested figs, terrible packaging, and figs that looked the size of raisins. add to that the high prices that were being charged for dry, stale, moldy inedible due to desiccation, etc. Then my luck changed and I found Texas Pecan Company, and searched their site for figs. I was not disappointed at all. It was a great experience with the customer service staff, and ordering was very easy. The package arrived in one day. The figs are dried, but not to the point of chewing gravel. These were chewy, but in a great way. They are tasty, full of nutrients, and I would opine that one can consider figs as a super food, given all the valuable vitamins and minerals in the figs, such as iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium – dietary fibers, and vitamins A, B1 and B2, and K (if you are on blood thinners, figs might not be your best choice). I use these beauties everyday as part of my breakfast preparation, of Oatmeal, mixed with Blueberries, Cherries, Buckwheat Honey, Almond Nut Butter, a Banana, and two figs that I cut up into the mix. The various tastes and textures make eating a true pleasure. I highly recommend the Texas Pecan Company for their quality figs and their produce. Been shopping here for years; however, this year will probably be the last. The prices & selection are good, but the girls behind the counter working this year, just flat out rude. I know it is a busy time, but I don't drive across town just for nuts as I can buy those at other locations. I like to shop a local small business and that is why every year I make the trek. Next year will be different. Not sure what has changed but there were not as many samples, when I asked questions the girls were just "No", "Can't do that", "Can you move", "Were out of peanuts" - none of these were even in the slightest pleasant voice. Prior to my last experience I would have given it 5 stars because I go regularly when in town and have referred many of my family and friends. The quality and prices speek volumes, but my last visit I purchased some pecans in the shell as I usually do. This time I bought about 3 lbs and the majority of them were dark and had a bad taste. I called the store when I got back home as I no longer live in DFW and requested to speak with a Mgr. I was told that the Mgr wasn't there so I left my name and number for a return call. That was in June, I called back once more and I still have not received a call back.
