Big 5 Sporting Goods — Local services in Daly City

Customer service is lacking at this location. With Dick's just across the street you would think that the employees at Big 5 would be more customer service oriented but I was mistaken. There was no one else in the store when we arrived. The employees that were "working" were hanging out by the register.

I asked for some assistance since most of their items are security locked in some manner. The cashier called for someone but after 15 minutes no one arrived to help me.

I decided to leave and purchase the same item at Dick's which priced matched Big 5. I understand why some companies don't make it. If there's a bigger store selling the same items as you and has a wider selection you need to provide excellent customer service. This did not happen and so they lost another sale that I doubt they could afford to lose.

Management may want to remedy this situation ASAP or more former customers will go elsewhere for our sporting goods needs. If I could give them a negative star I would because 1 star seems a little generous at this...

The customer care experience here went over the top! Made my day! Had a broken jacket zipper I recently purchased the snow jacket a month back, and the second day to Canada, the zipper had broke. It was below freezing, and the next day my friend and I were headed to Niagara falls. Coldest, experience without that zipper. When I got back to SF, I had emailed the cooperate account for the brand of the jacket, Body Glove. Never heard anything back for 3 weeks. Another snow trip planned the end of March, and no working zipper. Called up Big 5, and they had me bring the jacket in, and they looked up my receipt and was able to replace the entire thing! Crazy thing is, that day I called customer care at Body Glove and they basically told me that the jacket has a 1 year warranty, though they can't do anything to fix it. Big 5 was there for me! I went into the store today going to look for a new fishing rod and equipment. I needed to use the bathroom. Im 68 years old with bladder issues. I ASKED THEM POLITLY IF I COULD USE THEIR BATHROOM. They said due to corona They cannot let me use their facility. I run car delaerships and can imagine if one of my customers asked to use the bathroom and I said sorry due to corona virus go find a bathroom elsewhere. As I was leaving I asked for their managers number but all I got was a "have a nice day: Horrible customer service..I will never walk into a Big 5 Sporting good store till I hear from an officer of the corporation.
