Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Danbury

While this store certainly has an excellent selection of goods, they should not be asking me for a donation to Israel when I am checking out. This is a place to go shopping, it's not a place to get involved with politics. Quite frankly I think is real gets more than enough of my money through the foreign aid they receive which is derived from our tax dollars. Now Job lot has the nerve to ask me for more of my money to give to Israel? Why isn't job-lot asking me if I want to donate to our homeless veterans or to the homeless people living in tents in our own country. Quite frankly I couldn't care less about Israel's defense. While I believe they certainly have a right to defend themselves, that right is just what it says, it's their right to defend themselves against their obligation to defend themselves not mine anyone else's . Why are they not asking me if I want to donate to the women and children being blown apart and Gaza? I want to go shopping for goods, I want to buy what I need at a good price which is what they offer. I'm not going there to get involved with some type of political debate. I am in the store today. I have been waiting 23 minutes to check out. 2 registers open but 1 has an absent cashier. I have asked the remaining cashier to call a manager to help out. He couldn’t leave register. No manager in sight and when paged, came up and left. Cashier came back. Apologized. Fast, polite, efficient and did every stupid question they are required to ask each customer! Manager should have been more attentive and aware of situation. And helped to solve this! There were at least 25 people waiting to check out. This is not the first time this has happened. I love shopping here but don’t want to waste time like this! So I’ve been limiting my trips here. Very rarely stop anymore. Guess I’ll have to change rarely to never! Also, lots of items not priced or shelf tagged. No price checker thing available. Lots of stores are closing in this area! Some good deals here but most things are made in China. Mark; the front manager checked me out and was super polite and helpful to everyone I saw him interact with. He got me signed up for the free Insider program. Just being pleasant goes a long way in my book so thanks Mark! On my second visit I bought a rubber door mat and the smell was so strong that I had to keep all the windows in my car rolled down. I got it all the way home and found it had a one inch rip in the middle. Next time I'll be more careful to inspect everything I buy. I also bought some knee pads that worked really well and were very inexpensive. Time will tell...
