Thursday, July 10 at 8:15pm Aldi store #68 700 Stirling Rd Dania Beach FL
Before the store closed at 8:30pm, a caucasian female store associate with dark hair began riding the floor polishing machinery throughout the store, screaming (yes, screaming in order to be heard over the noise of the floor-polishing machine) that the store is closed and to leave now for the register. The loud screaming continued as I attempted to quickly gather the remaining items into my shopping cart and walk to the self-checkout registers. I was so shaken by the screaming, that I had forgot the yogurt I had come to the store to buy. It was now 8:35pm (I looked at the time on my phone) and when I walked back to the yogurt area, the female employee who had been riding the floor polisher barricaded the aisle, saying the store is closed. She was blocking the way to the meat department, which I did not need. But it was a very menacing stance as she had gotten off the ride-on polisher to block what she thought would be my path and stood facing me. I said that I was so upset by the screaming that I had forgotten my yogurt and I just needed to go get it, which I did. The employee said the store is closed and then spoke into a microphone to the other staff to shut down the self-checkout registers and to deny me from paying for my full grocery cart due to my being disrespectful. I deny that I was disrespectful. I turned away from her and proceeded to the only cashier-assisted checkout register and waited in line, hoping that the other employee would not deny me my purchases. It was 8:35pm. The cashier did allow me to pay for my purchases. When I asked him the name of the female employee who was polishing the floor, he said he did not know and did not give me her name. He clearly did not want to get involved and retaliated against. I thanked him for allowing me to pay for my groceries and I left. This was the most shocking and horrifying experience I have ever had at any grocery store. When this particular store opened, I wrote a 5-star review on Yelp, praising Aldi and this location. I go to this store every week. I am saddened by the abusive environment at this location now. An investigation should be done into the morale at this store. It must be awful for them to abuse customers in this way. My receipt number is *6533 FA41/003/035 07/10/25 08:40PM
I filed a complaint with Aldi corporate. Case...
Read moreCustomer service is everything in a service industry ...this store unfortunately lacks that much. The one and only employee that has been there for the longest, the most hard working kind man and he makes the store lively if anything best employee of all. Literally all the others, not so much. If you come here for Aldis, yes great prices, ✔️ when everything is fresh in stock. ✔️ And ignore the rude employees ✔️ this is a good Aldis. They do work hard to restock.
The first time I came here one of the lady employees was at cashier, I sorted everything to find out when all items were rung up to be THROWN all back into the cart. Second encounter unfortunately happened recently, as I am a customer and an instacart shopper ...I rung up items at self checkout, being kind for the employees not to have to do more I self rung to ALWAYS right away be starred down by the "security guard" literally as soon as I walk to the self checkout he immediately comes lurking ... out of all other customers at self checkouts ... just at me STARRING. But anyways I made a mistake as I was scanning and asked for help, manager JENNIFER came over and next thing you know I've been flagged .... like for what .....she pulls me over goes through all 3 orders I was shopping for ... and assumes I STOLE. but wait. She pulls some items aside that supposedly i didnt ring up and told me mam if you walk out with an item not rung up you are basically stealing and we have your instacart pin and if it happens again we will have to call the cops and you will be arrested. And had me go back to rering. So now I'm here with literally 6 receipts ...... at this point I just wanted to get to my car and check everything I check the first receipt and long behold the items were scanned ......NO items were missed ....so she made a mistake held me back for like 30mins to go through everything first I was already doing 3 orders a huge order ...... separated them .....checked them out carefully. Got flagged to then rering the items that were rung up to then find out she made a mistake. I walked right back in because I was accused and spoken to so rudely too. And let another manager know with the security next to her because he was the cause of it too .... i left in frustrated tears because i was literally working and this crap happens at thia Aldis. SHE DID NOT check no one else's cart NO ONE but mine got...
Read more1/25/23 Cart situation has improved some. While they used to have 1 to 2 checkout people they've really only cut down to 1 and mostly have self checkout stands. That's cool if you have a few items but I usually do a huge shopping trip for 2 weeks worth of groceries when I'm there so doing self checkout is not really effective for me. I'll gladly wait for the cashier to throw the items in my cart swiftly and I'll pack them at my leisure vs. taking forever scanning them. On my most recent visit I witnessed 2 "kids" perhaps 12-14 stealing candy and walking out. It's bad enough that prices have gone up with inflation and now we have to deal with entitled clowns and theft. The store should do better at loss prevention.
9/2/22 This is the closest Aldi to me and the shopping cart situation SUCKS! They maybe have 10 shopping carts for the entire store because this location is in a tourist and underserved area. Meaning they lock the carts up in the back and will only allow 10 carts out at a time- even those don't work properly! Aldi Corporate needs to step in.
This is one of my favorite Aldi locations. It is stand alone. Great produce section, wide aisles, friendly staff. If you see it, buy it because it may not always be there!
Update: so I have been shopping at this location since it opened. It's relatively good but the issue is with education on the carts. Every new Aldi that has opened subsequently has education on how the cart works, put in your 25 cents, get the cart, return the cart to the designated area, and get it back. They have nice signage and everything. This location has problems with the carts. We have Canadians and an underserved area nearby but that doesn't mean the store shouldn't have nice carts that work and proper education signage. The guy who closes is nice, friendly...
