Front Desk Agent Genesis should be commended for her 5-star service and it is unfortunate I am unable to rate the property in kind. Genesis was welcoming, kind, and pleasant to communicate with and showed highly empathetic mannerisms when I expressed negative opinions of the property. I strongly recommend her for any hotel management training program which may become available.

However, I do not recommend this hotel for several reasons. Firstly, the entire property is currently under renovation on all room levels as well as within the lobby. When I had first arrived they were serving breakfast foods in the same area where renovation work was also being done.

Secondly, the pool area was disgusting from morning until dawn: cigarette butts everywhere, dirty ashtrays everywhere. People’s bottled beverages left on a tabletop and were still out there the following day, wet towels everywhere on the pavers on ground, basket completely full of dirty towels; towels not being replenished consistently. I also found food debris, as well as tables not wiped clean; used plastic cutlery on a lounge table.

In the bathroom in my room the pop-up drain doesn’t work. Also, the vanity is missing a metal part on the lower left leg. The pillows on the bed (as another reviewer has mentioned) are flat. The day bed has no pillow or added comfort. Next I will explain for you (because they made no such explanation for me upon check-in) issues I had with getting into my room.

They have old-style key cards which must be inserted; these cards will deactivate if you keep them near you phone or wallet. Also, you cannot get them wet. When away from your room I would suggest keeping them in your back pocket or keeping your phone and wallet in the same pocket and your key card in sleeve in the other, Do not think the sleeve they put the card in will protect it from deactivation because it will not.

I would not rent a room at this hotel again and I also complained to IHG customer service about my experiences at this hotel because there was no manager available when I initially went down to the front office to speak with someone. No resolution or compensation was offered and the “supervisor” at the front desk relayed a message to the customer service employee stating that I was free to leave the property since I was unhappy with my stay also remarking that I would not be charged for unused...

I am writing about my stay at Holiday Inn Express & Suites at Fort Lauderdale Airport South on March 2nd.

Normally a stay at Holiday Inn means a great experience, this time was the exception. Before my stay I was assured that airport shuttle service was not a problem.

I booked 2 rooms a week before my stay.

I called from the airport to be picked up and asked airport personnel to verify that I was at terminal 1. The person working the desk said it would be 20-35 minutes. After 40 minutes I called back and she said I tried to call you, I am missing a number in your phone number, the shuttle driver said there was no one there. While on the phone she told me the number she had and I told her the correct number. The shuttle driver said she was told terminal 2.

We arrived at the hotel around 1 pm. I asked about early check in and was shown the list that they had to get through. We left our luggage preparing to go get lunch. I asked about the morning airport shuttle, our flight was 7 am, she said the 4:30 and 5:30 shuttles did not have room for our party of 4 so we could take the 3:30 or use Uber. I asked her to put us down for the 3:30 and add the room number once it was assigned.

When we returned from lunch I was told your room was ready an hour ago and I tried to call you but the number is wrong. I reminded her that we went over that while I was at the airport. She asked what we were doing for transportation in the morning, I reminded her that she wrote us in for the shuttle, she had written someone else in in our spot. Luckily there was still room for us.

My 2 rooms were on separate floors, she said that she tried to hold 2 rooms together but it was too crazy to do that. I asked for her name and she said Genesis.

My daughter had been in her room about half an hour and called me asking if I felt that? She said her whole room was shaking like a vibrating bed. The 3rd time it happened she went to the front desk and there were other people working, they were apologetic and said it was the laundry but it shouldn’t happen anymore. I wanted to address this directly instead of in a survey because our stay the week before , different staff at front desk, was great. I couldn’t find a email address so it’s in the survey.

Thank...

This was the absolute worst experience I have EVER had at a hotel.

I stayed here with my wife and three small children because we were flying out at 7 am the next day, and it has a great location and a shuttle to the airport.

The night before we left, I went to return my rental car so I wouldn't 't have to in the morning. I was told to call the front desk when my car was returned, and they would send the shuttle. Easy enough.

After I returned my car, I called the front desk, and he assured me the shuttle was coming (here is where the fun begins). After an hour and a half of no shuttle and seeing every other hotel send a shuttle, I called back to the front desk. After the phone rang at least 10-20 times, the guy at the front desk would pick up and tell me he could not hear me and hung up on me multiple times.

I called my wife, who could hear me perfectly fine, and told her to call the front desk to get me a shuttle so I could move on with my life. The front desk assured her a shuttle was on the way, but after another 45 minutes, they called me and told me I would have to get an Uber because a shuttle was not available.

I really wish this was the end of the story. However, after spending two hours waiting for a shuttle and finally getting back to my room, I came back to my wife and kids frightened because we were having a hillbilly episode of Jerry Springer right outside our room where the pool is located.

The pool was supposed to close by sundown, but here we were with these people getting intoxicated, swearing, arguing, and keeping everyone up well into the night. My wife called the front desk to have them removed. Initially, they left, but throughout the night, they kept screaming in the halls.

When we woke up at 4 am to go to the airport, one of them was drunk and on God knows what else, sitting by the pool like he was possessed.

It was truly a terrible experience for my whole family. I also do not like to post negative reviews, but when you show absolutely no regard for your guests, the least I can do is let...

Hotel is currently under construction and while you would think they would do it a little at a time, no it appears that it may be going on throughout the entire hotel. The lobby is completely destroyed, meaning no where to sit to have your breakfast if you can even cook your breakfast. Could not use toaster or pancake maker, was told, “No electricty”. If there’s no electricity then how are the construction workers doing there work and how are they keeping the hot food on the breakfast line hot? The room I had initially checked into on Tuesday, May 28, had construction going on (with loud Mexican music playing) in a hallway directly across from my room on the sixth floor. I went back down and explained to the female at front desk that she was mistaken when she had told me that the construction was only going on in the lobby. She had then assigned me another room on another floor but the construction noises are quite loud during the day. Perhaps the workers do stop work at 5 pm however, I found workers still in the hotel approximately three hours after they supposedly stop doing their work. Lastly, the pool area is absolutely disgusting: food debris on tables, cigarette buts everywhere, including in dirty ashtrays strewn throughout the enclosed pool area as well as on the ground, dirty towels astray, bottles of beverages on a table next to unoccupied chairs;exit blocked with tape and construction also going on in the bathroom adjacent to the pool. There is also a large chunk on the bottom of the pool which has chipped away posing a safety hazard. I have confirmed that every occupiable floor of this hotel is under construction (floors 2 & 3 are parking garage only). All photos were taken on the morning of May 29, 2024. This morning I stepped into an accessible elevator and a construction worker locked me out with a key telling me the elevator was not working (in actuality it appeared he simply needed to use it for construction and, rather, locked me out for that purpose.)

We had a pretty bad experience at this hotel. Our room was infested with Ghost Ants. And I don’t mean just a few of them in the room… they were crawling all over the fridge, everywhere in the bathroom, near our bed on the nightstands, counters, EVERYWHERE. The concierge was less than helpful, letting us know that they had no other available rooms and there isn’t much they could do for us but spray for bugs. They then proceeded to spray our room with Raid (harsh chemicals) and there’s no way to vent the room. The person spraying it even wore a mask but we were expected to stay and sleep in the room with the chemicals. This is all after we checked in at 11:30pm after driving 11 hours. It was a disgustingly horrible experience and I do not recommend this hotel. They gave us a whopping $50 off of our room that wasn’t cheap to begin with. Very unhappy with the customer service!
