Mice, indifferent, careless staff and dirty bathrooms with mold. That was my experience last night.
This was the worst example I have ever seen of disinterested, negligent staff. We approached the ticket counter and there were four staff. Three of them are sitting on the floor giggling loudly and all sharing their cell phones to showing each other inappropriate social media posts. The one person who did help us pointed us to the self-service kiosk initially, but we disappointed her when we said we wanted to use cash, which meant she would have to actually help us purchase a ticket. It was clearly inconvenient for her maybe because she was eating a piece of pizza. So we had a brief exchange around cost and seating and eventually she got us the tickets while continuing to eat the pizza and having to talk over her loud workmates who are having a good time 3 ft from her, but not assisting even though a few customers started to queue up.
From there we went to the concession stand, where the entire soda founding machine had broken down and only one of three order kiosks was working. So people were waiting to order. We finally got our popcorn and went over to the butter station which looked like it had not been cleaned all day. So we avoided putting anything down on the counter.
Off to find the theater. The girl slouched in the seat with the cell phone in one hand chatting to her friend gestured with her scanner in the other hand toward our tickets. It would have been too much work to say " May I see your tickets? " She scanned them and just pointed us in a direction saying theater three.
Halfway through the movie I went to use the bathrooms and to my disgust saw mold above the urinals. I washed my hands and got out of there. On my way back to my seat, with the lights out in the theater I noticed a mouse scurrying about in row E. I wonder if he was as disappointed with this place as I was.
If there was a manager on duty that night, they kept a low profile. Fresh in my memory was my experience a week ago at the Woburn showcase theater which was courteous, clean and respectful. Maybe I just have high expectations.
I would not recommend this theater. It was poorly managed and...
Read moreI preface this review by saying that I love going to the movies, and except for one time when this theater was filthy, I have never complained about AMC. About this theater: We were in auditorium 15 in seats G7 G8 G9. Seat G9 did not recline. Since we could only find seats together in the first or last row, my 4 1/2 foot son also had trouble seeing over the wall. At 5 feet I had to keep myself pretty propped as well. The screen seemed very far back. When our movie was somewhat quiet, we could also hear the movie in the theater next to us pretty clearly through the walls which was distracting. The other audience members in the theater were great. The Popcorn was crispy, but not hot or filled to the top compared to other orders. There’s no one there that you can talk to about ordering directly, or about your specific order.
About AMC‘s ordering system: I love automated technology, but I feel yours needs some upgrading. The online booking process allows people to pick two seats and leave on seat straggling in the middle , which makes it hard for a family of three to then find seats together. The system should be programmed like performance theaters that do not let you leave gaps in seating. My original popcorn order was ready quickly, but not hot or fully filled. My son decided he wanted a drink and when I immediately went into place a new order, that one was not going to be ready for another 20 minutes and there was no dedicated cashier person I could just place the order with, so we just skipped it.
I generally prefer going to the movies whenever possible as opposed to watching a movie at home, but this is the first time that I felt that I should’ve just watched the movie at home, so I may start choosing to watch the ones that don’t need to be best seen in a...
Read moreAll they did here to freshen this AMC Theater up was put a fresh face on a dirty nasty theater. The IMAX in this place still has old ratty uncomfortable seats with no leg room and a cement floor? This is probably one of the poorest looking IMAX Theaters I have ever visited. I mean I could feel the springs through the seats thats how bad this place was. Plus its located inside dumpy Liberty Tree Mall which is a dump and probably one of weirdest, scariest malls in Eastern Mass. At one time this mall used to be a normal working mall, but now it is full of shuttered stores and vacant spaces and is a dumpy place with really just Best Buy and AMC IMAX holding the place together. It is run by Simon properties which in its own right is having a heck of a time retaining surviving malls, many which are closing or being demolished. Lets face facts, the days of the indoor shopping mall are over and it is a thing of the 80's/early 90's. Its all about outdoor shopping plazas with courtyards and fancy landscaping. They should just close this dump since it is on its last legs now. When you walk in and see a cell phone case store and a junky art store as your featured stores, its time to be done with the place. Horrible dead ghetto dump. The food court in this dump has a Sushi stand which is...
