My family visits this restaurant about once a month when in the area for one particular dinner, which we all love. It is the BBQ turkey tips which is consistently DELICIOUS! The only variation to our dinners is the preferred style of potato and the choice of vegetable sides. I always order mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and it is SO good! My husband and son order fries sometimes and carrots or another vegetable available that day. They give you good sized portions on the tips, but I would prefer more on the potato sides. The only minor complaint I have is that they charge extra for the asparagus choice, which is 3 pieces. That extra charge seems a bit stingy to me, especially since it is a small amount. I get it anyway because it's so good. Every server we've ever had has been very nice and attentive. No complaints at all. This isn't a very comprehensive review since we only order that one dinner, but I can say that everyone around us every time seemed very happy with their meal. I do think mostly everything must be good because we go on all different days and nights at varying times and it's always busy and we always have to wait on average of anywhere from 10-50 min. They do advertise that you can call ahead to be added to the waiting list, but we've never done it because it's a last minute decision when we're in town. BBQ turkey tips are the best we've ever had and definitely worth the wait! Prices are reasonable. The 99 Restaurant we go to is in Danvers, MA.....Update: A couple of months after leaving this review, they removed our fave and only thing we like to order, BBQ turkey tips, from their menu. We reluctantly ordered the replacement, lemon turkey tips. It was good, but not as good as the BBQ. The server said the BBQ would probably return because it was a favorite for many. Although we usually went to the Danvers, MA location, we were in Haverhill that time. A few months after that, we were in Haverhill again and still had to order the lemon tips. Not only were we still disappointed not to be able to get BBQ, the lemon this time was overpowering and bothered our stomachs. We haven't been for quite a long time now, but taking those BBQed turkey tips off the menu was a BIG mistake, and even the servers in the 2 locations we went to...
Read moreVery disappointed in our visit this weekend. The service from 2 servers was less than satisfactory. She kept rushing us to order...had a bit of an attitude...just not friendly...the food came and my baked haddock was terrible! All mushy...like maybe it was cooked frozen? I ordered broccoli and corn and they never even offered butter. I asked for extra lemon on the side...that was the sadest dish of lemons I'd ever seen...very small and just looked old...We asked if we could have bread to go with my elderly mom's cup of chowder ...they said they don't serve bread anymore but we could buy a piece. So we said okay how many pieces do you get and she said two. That was good because someone else wanted bread to go with their salad. The bread comes and it's 1 piece. We had to ask for the 2nd piece and again the attitude from the waitress.. We asked for more napkins...she never brought them so we asked the man who brought the food. He also was very snippy and seemed like he just didn't want to be there. And these were 2 adult servers not young teenagers that might not know better. Then we wanted to order food to go...that was apparently another hassle. No one checked on us or our meal...they left us alone the entire time...the steak tips on the salad were very dry and over cooked...then the man who brought us the food for some reason told the woman server that we wanted separate checks...no one even came to the table to ask us about checks...we never even had a discussion about if we were done...no offer of coffee or dessert...she just comes over with 5 separate checks and apparently that annoyed her too. I can't believe how disappointed we were. I would not recommend this restaurant at all The food quality was ok for 3 of us but the service more than sucked. I will not be returning to this 99.... Nor will the other 4 people who were...
Read moreDon't. Even. Get. Me. Started. On. This. Place. We were staying in Massachusetts for the weekend, and thought it would be a great idea to grab something to eat. While searching for around an hour for the perfect restaurant through the long, highway strips, my family and I finally saw a bright, neon red and yellow sign, called: "99". In a desperate need to end our hunger, my family and I decided to go in there for dinner. Boy, was that a mistake. Firstly, an obnoxious, old woman situated us into a booth, having little to no teeth in her mouth, mind you. And next, we were greeted by the "nose ringed" waitress, who was kind but had absolutely no class, to the point where she had the audacity to pull her jeans up right near my daughter's face, panties showing and all, how unsanitary! After a 45 minute wait due to the chef apparently have a "mishap in the kitchen" according to the waitress, our food finally arrived. My steak was super cold, not cooked at all, while by daughter's steak was super bloody and rough. It felt as though this restaurant tried to be classy, but failed miserably. And even more, the food was heavily priced, and did not match the quality at all, as opposed to Friday's (a restaurant we went to the next day for dinner), which had reasonable prices and delicious food. 99 should take some inspiration from its fellow restaurants, because as a tourist in Massachusetts, I was extremely disappointed by the trashy environment, people, and food (the only reason why this has a 2 star rating is because the drinks were...
