Royal Theater — Local services in Danville

This is an old, historic single-screen theater with older theater style seating, which is surprisingly plush and comfy. It doesn't have some of the amenities of bigger, modern theaters, but it's a fun place to go see a show. And the picture and sound quality are excellent. The tickets are more affordable than the bigger places, and the snacks are very reasonably priced. The kids working up front do a great job and are quick and polite.

The screen isn't enormous, but it's plenty large enough and has top-notch clarity. And the sound system is on par with any newer movie theater. The room is fantastic acoustically already. I watched a piano recital in there last summer, and it just sounded great.

So you get to watch a new movie in a historic building with great acoustics, audio system, and screen for less than you'd pay to go to a multiplex cinema (not that there's anything wrong with those places either). The place is an...

The Royal Theater is such an incredible experience. There truly isn’t much better than an old time movie theatre, and this theatre has that classic feel with a very nice screen making it an overall wonderful movie experience.

There’s something to be said about giving back to the community and you can tell right when you walk in the doors that the owners and staff truly care. I cannot say thank you enough for what you all did for my family the other night. Truly a special occasion and one we will all cherish.

Attempted to go the first time for a movie last month. After buying tickets and popcorn and candy, we learned there was no seats available for my family to sit together. So we left. Very disappointed. Then tried again to see the Grinch. Boyfriend and I said, "this is the last chance, if it doesn't work out we won't try again." Luckily, the grinch had and lit of great seats available 15 minutes prior to the showing. Filled up quickly. Tickets are cheaper than any other place I've ever seen. Loved the Jr combo.
