The Bread Basket is our local "niche" restaurant. The restaurant is an old remodeled Danville home which is very quaint. When you enter you are taken through the open kitchen, which I find refreshing. The staff is extraordinary. They are friendly, courteous, respectful and efficient. I have come to know a few by name and always enjoy our interaction. I have had three meals. The first was a Smoked Salmon Niçoise Salad. Delicious. The greens were fresh, the salmon, wherever it was purchased, was of high quality and the portion was generous. I was very pleased. Second time I had the roasted red pepper bisque. The taste was pretty good, but it lacked seasoning and was overly thick. Having worked in quite a few restaurants in my life, I would guess that the soup had too much roux added or it simply sat on the stove too long and became overly thick. Just today we returned for a third visit and after the television piece that aired on WTHR, you can well imagine that the restaurant was really busy. Nevertheless, the service was excellent as usual. We were a party of three and two of us ordered the chicken salad on croissants. Both commented that the chicken salad lacked seasoning and was just ok. This seems to be a recurring issue. Not the end of the world. There are salt shakers on the tables. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with pesto. I enjoyed it. We also purchased a Raspberry/Cherry pie, which we took home and it was a huge disappointment. The texture was jellified and, quite frankly, unpalatable and the flavor simply did not warrant the calories. We could not eat it. Would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely, I would. You just have to know what to order. I...

Simply Amazing! Went to lunch there today. Ordered the 1/2 Dilly Turkey and a cup of Cream of Cabbage soup. The sandwich was so good, great flavor with a touch of sweet from the red peppers, a bit of freshness from the cucumber, turkey that was plentiful and a dill cream cheese on their home made honey oat bread. The soup.....oh the soup! The server said Cream of Cabbage and I thought what the heck! I love cabbage! This was a delight the whole generous cup through! My mom had the tomato basil and that was sublime also! And then the dessert time came. Too many wonderful choices but I went with the Peanut Butter Pie. Just wow, I am not sure there's a better word to describe it. I seriously needed a moment alone with my pie and coffee to savor the glorious pie! Had a sample of the Coconut Cream that wasn't quite what I had hoped and the Overboard Chocolate Cake that was a fudgy chocolate explosion. Service was wonder, helpful, smiles all around. This is a true gem! Too bad I live an hour away!

Have now visited 3 times and they have not disappointed me! The clam chowder today was outstanding! Had the lemon sour cream pie......I don't think i can put into words just how good this was! I find it amazing that their desserts all look super impressive and they taste super impressive too! Service is always so good, my ice tea glass was never empty! Thank you Bread Box staff...

Finally tried this place out after reading reviews and hearing so much about it. I took my toddler with me. We had lunch. He chose Pb&j and it came with chips. They even let him choose his jelly. When he got his plate to our surprise they had also given him a slice of watermelon and a slice of orange. He loved it. I had a difficult time deciding between 3 sandwiches so the waitress let me have half of 2 I really wanted. I ended up loving their grilled cheese sandwich. It had a fresh warm tomato and pesto on it. It was the best grilled cheese I had ever had. I highly recommend that sandwich. All their food taste fresh and they use good ingredients. There decaf was also delicious. I could tell it was good quality. What I appreciated the most was when it came to pay for the food I had realized that I didn't have my card. I frantically dumped my purse out, I checked my pockets and went through my car but to no avail. I was obviously embarrassed and upset. The lady was extremely kind and understanding. She allowed me to call my husband and let him pay for my meal over the phone. I did end up finding my card at a store I had gone to right before I came to the restaurant. I just want to say thank you to the Staff. It meant so much to this Mama to have your understanding and flexibility. I highly...

We came here just for the pie based off of reviews. All three of the slices we got were quite sweet, and the three of us were quite full afterwards. The peanut butter pie was very good, the topping and crust were my favorite part. The coconut cream pie coconut crust was absolutely amazing like a Samoa cookie, and the cream filling was pretty nice and light. The coconut flakes on top were a nice addition. Unfortunately with the blackberry wine cake, it just tasted like chocolate, missing the wine flavor and had almost no blackberry jam. The frosting was different in that the middle was just as firm as the outside, kind of like a think icing, instead of being softer in the middle and more firm in the outside. It was cream cheese frosting, but just tasted like icing. The cake was moist and blackberry on top was a nice addition though! Our server was super nice and helpful, she gave recommendations based on what was most often ordered. She also came by to refill coffee. The decor was super cute, with little animal salt and pepper shakers, flowers, and other aspects. Overall good experience!

Bread Basket is a great local spot for a meal and dessert! Located just off the square in Danville this Quaint old house turned restaurant serves up some of the best breakfast food in the Indianapolis area. We had a group of 6 and were able to be seated immediately. The browned butter pecan waffle was the star of the show in my opinion. The Waitress recommended not using their fresh maple syrup because “it isn’t needed” and she was right. This waffle left nothing to be desired, except maybe a nice weekend nap. We also had an omelette, cinnamon roll French toast, and quiche amongst our group all of which were delicious. The sides of fruit were as fresh as if we had just picked it ourselves! Finally we got a mini carrot cake that was very fresh and rich!! Everyone left Bread Basket with a full stomach and a smile on their face! If you’re looking for a brunch spot on the West side of Indy give the bread basket a try. You will not be disappointed!
