Always a treat to visit the locally owned and operated Bee Hive. Wonderful coffee bar, bakery and breakfast/lunch menu choices each day. The soup of the day is always delicious. Lasagna soup is one of my favorites.
They have several gluten-free options including gluten-free breads, cookies and treats. My daughter just loves their GF BLT. With the bread toasted, the crunchy bacon and crispy lettuce, it's one that she generally orders two sandwiches.
They also sell locally made canned goods on a shelf near the back of the store along with a fridge and a freezer with meat, eggs, cheeses for sale. In addition, they sell locally made crafts such as homemade cards, jewelry and lotions.
If you see any of those baked goods & wish to have some for a holiday, special occasion and/or full-blown party, be sure to ask for Kami, and she'll be happy to bake & create for your specific needs. I had her make several of her sugar cookie bars and prepare them for me as small, bite-sized bars. I also had her make me 50 individually-wrapped, large, homemade snickerdoodle cookies for my husbands 50th bday. They were a huge hit!
So be sure to stop by for a warm specialty coffee, a smoothie or grab some lunch and shop. Call ahead if you want the order to go. If it's a rainy, chilly or snowy day be sure to go in & warm up by the fireplace. Relax on the lounge chairs or loveseat. Shop around their store for unique specialty gifts, and leave with some fresh eggs, meat or a bag of pet treats for home. It's a refreshing little cafe with just enough of a...
Read moreToday is last time I am ordering off their menu. Their food is good and I love all their take home casseroles however their order accuracy is very flawed. I have went in 3 times now to order a breakfast sandwich. I order the same every single time... Egg white, wheat toast, mozz, avocado spread, and tomato and onion. Every single time I have received a different variation of sandwich. The first two times I thought maybe they were out of an item as I was just missing something. However, this morning I specifically asked if they had all the items. The girl looked at me like I was crazy for asking but said yes. I should have known better to check my sandwich before leaving but I guess I am too trusting. Came home to eat it and low and behold wrong again. Except this time they added items I didn't order nor did I want on my sandwich. So here's a $7 sandwich getting picked down to soggy bread and egg. For $7 I would like a sandwich made to order. Unfortunately I will no longer be ordering from here when 0/3 visits have they made my VERY SIMPLE...
Read moreThe Bee Hive is a small hip little eatery that also sells raw honey and various other things. They also make wonderful breakfast drinks and have a variety of desserts. They also actually have an espresso machine on the premises.
On this trip I had a Little Italy sandwich and my wife had the Chicken Artichoke sandwich. The soup of the day was white bean and chicken chili which we both also had. We felt like the chicken artichoke sandwich was just a bit drier than it should be however the Little Italy was excellent. The soup was rich & hearty and seasoned well. It turned out to be the perfect soup for a rainy cool day.
It seems like each time we go they have a different interesting and tasty soup. We sometimes make the short drive over from Indianapolis for a lunch or breakfast date adventure. Overall The Bee Hive is a quaint friendly small business with great food and friendly smiling staff. What's better than eating good food locally and supporting a small business?! You should take a road trip and try...
