I have never witnessed a more disgraceful example of customer service in my life. I have never written any kind of review before, but the service we were given at the Tic Toc Shop was so upsetting and unprofessional that I felt people should be warned about what they might encounter if they take their business there.
I brought my boyfriend’s clock in to be repaired at the end of April because I accidentally knocked it over and damaged it. I was a little wary of leaving the clock there because, while I was waiting to be served, a repairman was rude to the woman at the front desk. Even so, I thought I may have just been reading the situation incorrectly, so I left the clock there and the woman gave me an estimated completion date of 4-6 weeks – no problem. Two and a half months later, after no call from the shop, my boyfriend decides to go in to check on it. He is told by the repairman that it will be two more weeks. Two weeks later and no call, my boyfriend returns to the shop. He is told by the repairman it will be one more week. My boyfriend tells him that it has been enough time and he needs his clock back by the end of that week. The shop calls on the last day of that week and says the clock is ready, so we go in and pick it up. After running it, it chimed 15 minutes off, skipped an hour, chimed 15 minutes past, and stopped in the middle of the night (twice). It clearly wasn’t fixed, so my boyfriend called and requested that his money be returned, because they had already been given 2-1/2 months, plus the extra three weeks.
My boyfriend and I understand that things go wrong, mistakes are made, etc., and we are happy to give people as much time as they need, as long as they are honest, up front, and respectful. When my boyfriend called to discuss a refund, he was met with aggressive arguments and excuses, and was even sworn at by the repairman. He spoke to the owner of the business, where he was met with even more push-back. Eventually he and the owner came to an agreement: my boyfriend would bring the clock in, and if the repairman could fix it while we were there, great. If not, we would be refunded. We brought the clock in, and the repairman said he would not be able to fix it while we were in the store and would need a couple of days. When my boyfriend calmly told him it was time for us to take our clock elsewhere, he was verbally accosted by the repairman. He yelled at my boyfriend in the middle of the store, told us we were in no way going to get our money back because we were being completely unreasonable, and then he proceeded to snatch our claim check away from my boyfriend and refuse to hand it back to him, claiming it wasn’t our property. My boyfriend demanded to speak to the manager, and though the repairman initially refused, saying that she was tired of us and didn’t have anything to say to us, he eventually got her on the phone. My boyfriend tried to explain the situation to her but she cut him off and told him to put the repairman back on the phone. Apparently she told him to just give us our money back, so he did and told us we got our money back and have no reason to return to the store.
I don’t think I can accurately express how horrible this experience was. I was in complete shock at the behavior of the repairman and that the boss sided with his appalling behavior. As my boyfriend told both of them, he would have been completely happy to give them as much time as they needed, if he had been given any kind of follow-up or any semblance of decent...
Read moreI was there with my son a few days ago looking at clocks and had a very similar experience with this woman as well. My son was interested in a particular clock, so I decided to take a photo with my phone so I would remember which one he liked. The woman immediately came over to me shaking her finger and yelling at me repeatedly to DELETE THE PHOTO, RIGHT NOW...RIGHT NOW...DELETE IT NOW...DELETE IT!!! It completely caught me off guard, and it took a minute for me to register what was actually happening. I deleted it, and then she explained that the boss doesn't allow photos being taken of the merchandise in there because they don't want people taking them to their competition. She made me aware that there are signs everywhere saying "no photos" and told us we were going to have to leave the store right now. I told her I didn't see any signs, but on the way out I did notice one small piece of paper with "no photos" written on it. When I walked into this place, the only sign I was looking for was the "open" sign. After that, my eyes went straight to the clocks and nothing else. I think if they have such an issue with people taking photos in there, this woman needs to politely request upon entry that customers turn off their cell phones or leave them on the front counter, and warn them about the no-photos policy instead of verbally assaulting people after the fact. I was in shock leaving this place and have decided never to set foot in this place again. I'm guessing they get most of their business repairing clocks, because I seriously don't know how they stay afloat treating walk-in...
Read moreWell, I just had to see how this service got such poor ratings. I have had Kent oiling my grandfather clock since I bought it in 1993. He is very knowledgeable and a pleasant person. I paid around $130 which included the house call, oil, and the labor. He has kept the clock running perfectly for over 26 years!
I just had to have my cuckoo clock repaired. I bought it from Germany and paid over $600 for it. Not a cheap clock for just anybody to tinker with. I took it in to the Tick Tock Shoppe which Kent now owns. The lady who runs the shop when Kent is out performing service calls performs the in-shop repairs. She was overly pleasant to speak with, was very knowledgeable and explained what she was going to do. If additional repairs were needed, she said she would first call me. She said the shop was pretty busy right now but would get to it next week. She said she would like to keep it for another week after the repair to make sure it was running properly. After three weeks she called and said it was working as good as new and I could pick it up. Total cost was $155, as quoted up front.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for! Kent is a certified Master clock worker and can repair your expensive clocks without damaging them. Just like I would not take my Audi for repairs at Kmart, I expect quality clock work and I am willing to pay for it. If you have a cheap clock that needs repair, buy another cheap clock!
This shop is under new management. Those who criticized them in the past should stop in and just say hello.
And, no, I am not...
