Petco — Local services in Dartmouth

I booked a grooming appointment for today at 12:30 but a few days before Christmas they called and asked if I could come in at 11 because they wanted to make sure they had enough time with Mr. Lee . So I arrive at 1055 , I have a chow chow now contrary to everyone’s beliefs he wouldn’t even hurt a fly , he’s afraid of squirrels . As I am walking in he gets super nervous and tried run so I had to pick him up and bring him there the door . Now he had his tale in between his legs shacking like no other . The girl at the front desk who was wearing glasses looks up and goes “ what’s his name & chow chows are known for being mean , is he mean ? “ You could look at him and tell how scared he was so I explained no he’s super nice last time we where here he was great ! While this is going on a woman and her small daughter walked threw the door ( they barley spoke English ) and the girl comes running right up and I tell her no the mom grabs her and goes “ bite bite bite “ as she is saying this the girl from the front counter goes “ you said he’s not mean he doesn’t bite ! “ . No he does not bite but he is super protective and any person running up to him he doesn’t know as he is already scared is gonna scare him even more . So now my dog is wrapped up underneath me . Li is about 40/45 lbs but all fluff . The front desk girl then comes up to him and runs her fingered threw his coat which is thick but I also brushed him out 3 days ago because I know how much fur he does have . As she is running her hands threw his fur she goes “ so it’s absolutely gonna cost more money because we are gonna have to really brush him out . So I’m thinking okay like $20 more that will be fine . Last time I went it cost $85 and I had a first time coupon that ended up being $65 . Anyways she proceeds to tell me it’s $15 more for every 15 minutes of brushing and my dog is gonna need 2 2 1/2 hours worth of it . So on top of the $85 I was already paying it was gonna be another $120 - $150 . So I looked at her and I told her no you don’t need to brush him for that long . Just give him a bath , trim his nails , brush his teeth & get out the fur that you can but he doesn’t need 2 1/2 hours of brushing . She proceeds to tell me no they can’t do that they have to brush him for that long they aren’t gonna let him leave matted. As I stated earlier i had already brushes him and got most of his fur out before bring him in . So i looked at her and asked “ don’t you guys just do baths , nails & teeth brushing I myself had added the shedding to the bath package and I don’t want it if it’s gonna cost me more than the whole bath itself “ she then goes “ eehhh lady it’s gonna be more okay? “ I said no I’ll just take him home after this whole experience “ so as im walking out the door I hear her say “ well that one’s leaving our toughest one of the day “ .

Now I work in customer service I’m a bartender for a living and I know well enough that you don’t speak to customers the way she did . She had wrote me and my dog off from the second she saw us struggling to come in . She was rude about the breed of dog I have & saw he has a thick coat so it was gonna be a little work & him being scared was also gonna be a little work. She was most likely the one who was going to have to groom him & didn’t wanna put in the work or effort . So needless to say they changed my appointment to earlier so I had to move all my plans around , the staff was ignorant / rude / and had a massive sour puss on her face & then there prices doubled / tripled since may the last time we where there . I will now never shop or have my dog or cat groomed at this petco . I also use vetco clinic for my animals and will never use the Dartmouth petco again . If prices have changed that much they should change them on the website & you should get employees that actually enjoy there job and not rude little gremlins who just crawled out from under there bridge to work .

If I could give 0 stars I would cause 1 isn’t even deserved . I will be telling my friends and family never to shop here...

My dog is been going to Petco grooming for about a year now maybe longer, we’ve never had any issues I really like it because it’s convenient and I have vital care so it’s a little more affordable.

However my dogs last visit was absolutely horrible and I will never ever spend my money at Petco again. His appointment was for 8am they did explain it might take a little longer than usual (which is usually about 2 hrs) because it was the weekend of Christmas. Not a problem my mother was going to be there to pick him up. After about 3/4 hours my mother shows up just to get an update they were extremely rude and overbooked which my mother called them out on, the man at the desk slammed his hand on the table and said “what do you want me to do not take peoples money on Christmas weekend?”

So clearly they do not care about our pets it’s all about the money. My dog was there for 6 and a half HOURS. HOURS. He was not picked up until 230 pm No bathroom break, no food nothing. When he was picked up his haircut was awful I will show pictures it was not at all like the times before he had spots, there was hair still falling in my moms car so he wasn’t blown out well and you can just tell it wasn’t a job well done. I work in customer service too so I have sympathy but nothing was done right and I didn’t appreciate the customer service that they had given that day. Don’t bring your pet here take the time to find somewhere that you know your dog will be in good hands.

I wish I had asked the man’s name at the desk but my dog does usually see Jennifer D. And I will make sure everyone knows that Petco is the last place you should be bringing your pet.

Went in with 3 3 month old puppies to take a second shot that was already paid for. A worker named Chris or Craig told me they need more shots and that the package would be $65 each. I told him puppy and puppy 1 are my aunts and shes selling them give them only the shot that is paid for i will pay for the shots for Trinity dog #3 because she is mine he told me he would apply a discount for the shot that is already paid for so i would pay $55. Once they gave them the shots another employee who refused to disclose his name gave me paper work telling me i had to pay $165 for all 3 dogs i told him i only asked for the package for 1 dog He proceeded to tell me no that all 3 needed them. We went over to the other worker Craig or Chris who preceded to lie and say that after i told him to do all 3 witch never happened they my aunts are selling the other puppies if she wanted to give them other shots she would bring them in and do that herself they were both extremely rude i asked to the store managed and finally got the charges for the other 2 dogs taken out store manager was extremely polite and apologized i will never walk into that establishment again i was also later told by my aunt that the last time she went and brought all 5 puppies from the litter for the first shot they did the same and gave them other shots that weren't asked for and she had to pay $500 hence the reason they had the 1 more shot paid i will never walk into that establishment again they do what they want and have no consideration for what the...
