I live in Mobile County but the beach never gets old. However, seeing it from the 5th floor of Holiday Isle cannot be put into words. It's akin to everything you ever wanted in a vacation add the majestic scenery that will leave you awe struck. It didn't matter that I was 35 minutes from home. I felt like I was far away in perhaps a Caribbean paradise. Although I highly doubt anywhere else could offer the beauty of the sunrise and sunset coupled with the southern hospitality. We (southerners) are very inclusive and kind people. Its addictive. If you're reading this and you're debating where you'll go? Holiday Isle is it. I have vacationed on every part of the gulf. From Destin, Ft Walton, Pensacola, Perdido, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.. the traffic is an absolute nightmare. Waiting on a table to eat dinner is hours almost every time. There's no where to just get away from people, noise and traffic. Dauphin Island offers small gatherings except during the fishing rodeo of course.. Food is within walking distance. There are bars if you want to go out. You're right next door to Biloxi, MS (45 mins from exit 13), if you want to spend a day casino hopping. The seafood on DI is authentic Gulf of Mexico fare. You'd be shamed as a restaurant owner on DI if you served anything else. You will not always find fresh seafood in Gulf Shores which makes no sense.. But I was there for a regrettable week in May and paid for previously frozen, straight outta China, seafood. Gulf Shores to Pensacola, FL is a fad. Drunken kids, long lines and outrageous prices for places to stay, subpar food and service.. You'll be more exhausted when you leave Gulf Shores than when you finally arrived after hours of bottle neck traffic crossing Mobile Bay.. You won't likely find a traffic jam going to the island because its Alabamas best kept secret.. On DI, you can sit on the beach near people or away. If you want to visit Gulf Shores, the ferry will take you to Ft Morgan Rd and when you reach the end of it, you're in Gulf Shores. Go to D.I. for your vacation. Stay at this condo. You will not regret a second of it. May is a good month but the water is still chilly and it rained a lot this year in May. June is fabulous, the water is warm, hurricane season is at hand but its rare to see a large storm in June. July is hot as hades, afternoon storms are common, the fishing rodeo and the 4th of July can definitely draw the crowds. August is the best month to me.. but the big storms get primed in August so invest in insurance just in case you have to cancel. By late Aug early Sept, marine life can be a pain. You might see a myriad of female crab with the orange sponges because they're laying eggs. Also Portuguese man of War babies are out n about. They sting but its bearable.. Google it so you'll know what they look like. Fishing is phenomenal in September still watch for hurricanes, they also love September. Enjoy your trip. Hope this...
Read moreFirst let me say that the condominium itself was nice, the people were kind, the lobby was clean and well kept...however we rented room #107 the week of July 12-19 and upon arrival the first thing we noticed was how filthy the door was.. upon entering things seemed pretty good, nice view etc. As we began unpacking we did notice the floors apparently hadn’t been swept but that was fine. However the living room /dining room definitely needed a fresh coat of paint. There are scuff marks everywhere especially in the dining room. Also we noticed that the couch was completely worn out and there were throw pillows under the cushions to hold them up! We had more family joining us that would be using the pull out sofa to sleep on so decided we better check it out and I am so thankful we did so that we could go purchase air mattresses before they arrived! We barely got the sofa to unfold and when we did the mattress was torn and completely worn out there was no way anyone could sleep on it. The bedding was still on the worn out mattress and also torn and filthy. After seeing that the Floors were swept and it didn’t appear to have been cleaned very thoroughly we did wipe things down and tried to make the best of it. I personally decided to check the air unit filter and that was the most horrific part of the place... it definitely hadn’t been changed in many months... I Have no clue who owns this particular condo #107 but if you are paying someone to clean it for you, you are getting ripped off and I can’t believe no one has complained before now. I have pictures of everything and like I said, the holiday Isle was nice itself, clean and the staff was nice. But because of the rental up keep, I would never rent this particular condo again and wouldn’t advise anyone to. Our first experience to the gulf was definitely not a good one as far as...
Read moreI stayed in Unit #320 from October 19 through October 22. I would say the price was reasonable. The check-in process was strange as it was very self-directed, but ACP gave the impression it was handled directly by the front desk. Friendly people and communicative. The door lock was odd as it still includes the old lock box method alongside the new updated lock on the door. I would remove the old box as that would confuse most guests. I thought it was strange that check-in was at 4 pm, but check-out was 10 am; that is exceedingly early. The place was spacious and clean, master bedroom with a spare room for 3 or 4 other guests and a main bathroom, save for a couple older drains in the bath tubs. The kitchen was workable but some of the pans are scratched and some of the utensils appear as if they hadn't been fully cleaned. I would bring your own cooking utensils if you plan to use a location like Skinner's Seafood for meals. There was some questionable quality about the bath towels, but enough for one person staying up to 3-4 days without having to do a load of laundry. It is unclear the situation with the washer and dryer, but I could not find a measuring scoop for the ziploc bag of laundry detergent. There is parking on the third floor, so it is VERY convenient for loading and unloading bags. The living room is very comfortable. The master bedroom was comfortable. There is low water pressure for the showers. The balcony was very lovely to have breakfast on or sit out in the evening and look out on the shoreline and water. I would stay...
