We are currently staying at Nida on the gulf side. We have ROACHES, a LOT of roaches. Dauphin Island Real Estate says they are going to send an exterminator, but the question is, why wasn't the property exterminated on a regular basis before our complaint? There shouldn't be any bugs at all. Furthermore, lightbulbs are burnt out all over this house, the light over the sink is burnt out, ALL outdoor floodlights are burnt out, if we go outside at night (for example to take the trash out) must take a flashlight with us, lightbulbs in ceiling in second king bedroom burnt out, and more. AND, the place is dirty. We dropped a piece of a board game and had to climb on the floor with a flashlight to look under the sofa. DISGUSTING. Dead roaches, chex cereal, and YEARS of dust. It looks like the place has never truly been cleaned. There are no screens on the sliding doors in the living room, the screen on the sliding door in the one king bedroom has no lock, what I mean by this is that it NEVER had a lock, so if we want to sleep with the doors open to listen to the ocean, we have to sleep with the door unlocked, this is ASSUMING that the glass doors lock, and they no longer do. The tv in the one bedroom won't turn on at all. We reported that to DIRE and they SAID they were going to bring batteries for the remote to see if that was the issue but they never brought the batteries, we COULD buy our own batteries, but shouldn't have to. The windows do not fit correctly, and therefore cannot be opened or they will fall into the room. I could go on, but want to get outside on my vacation and TRY to enjoy this week. In short, rent from another company, it couldn't be any worse.
UPDATE: Cathy, I assume this is Cathy responding to me, because I was TOLD by your employee Sara that the owner would be calling me on Friday, October 23rd, and that her name was Cathy, but you never called. She also said that you couldn't talk to me because you were ill and at the doctor, but apparently not too ill, to go online and respond, but too ill to call like your employee promised you would. My husband spoke to Autumn in your offices on Saturday, the 24th, and was told at that time that the owner (that would be you, I believe) would be calling us to discuss the MANY issues that he discussed with Autumn when we checked out, but you never called. I can post photos of 5 different dead roaches that we personally had to spray with the can of Raid left under the sink, AFTER your pest control company came out and told me to my face very politely that as long as the soffits were missing from the house (due to Sally I assume) that the bugs would continue to come in. He further stated that he had told Dauphin Island Real Estate that the bugs couldn't be controlled until the soffits were closed up, and the crack in the ceiling (also I assume from Sally) was repaired, so according to YOUR pest control company you should have known there were going to be bug issues. I won't even waste my time going into the LONG laundry list of things wrong with Nida, but I will say this, you may not know this but we have rented other houses from your company last year, and the year before, and the year before, ALL had screens. Nida has screens on the windows, they just have big holes in them. So don't lie and say these houses don't have screens, because most do, and we know better. We are long-time customers of Dauphin Island Real Estate. So, are you going to call us like we have been told TWICE that you would? Or do we need to follow through on our threat to take our future business elsewhere? AND, I do have pictures of the roaches, the cracked ceiling, etc. Would you like me to email you personally the pictures of the roaches and other damage to Nida or shall I post them online for you to see? Pick up the phone lady and call your customer like we have been told you would...
Read moreWe had an awful experience, do not use them to book your condo/home, etc. We stayed at Purple Pelican on Dauphin Island. The home wasn’t as clean as it should be. Many lamps and outside lights were out. All the towels were left in the dryer when we got there for us to fold and put away. The cookware was old and rusted. The washing machine was front-loading and looked like it had never been cleaned. It was filled with mold and smelled so bad. We tried to clean it as best we could. It was just as if it the home was surfaced cleaned and there was no check list performed by the cleaning crew each time they cleaned. There were at least 10 roaches in the house every night that we killed. It was SO disgusting. We contacted them early on in our stay and they sent an exterminator out. He came 2 days later and said he was coming anyway for the monthly spray. Monthly? We weren’t made aware someone may show up for a monthly spray to begin with. Spraying only made it worse, then they begin to show up in the day time. The back porch gate was messed up and you had to pick it up each time to open it. We contacted the company regarding all our concerns with the property and were told if we would have contacted them earlier in our stay things could have fixed. The blame was placed on the customer when the cleaning and updates should have been taken care of before we even arrived. We discussed at least a partial refund would be appropriate as we felt we paid WAY too much to stay in the poor environment. All we got was $250 back. Never again. We will be sure to let anyone who asks about going there to not use them. We had a friend that recently came back from Dauphin Island and used the same company for the first time. They had already booked their trip when we warned them. They too were disappointed in the cleanliness of the home (Jazz). They had porch rails missing off the back so had to block them off with chairs so their children couldn’t...
Read moreWe stayed here in June 2022. The house was great, spacious and well-kept. Our only issue with the house itself was parking was a mess. There was no place to park, but on the side of the house (which we were told we shouldn't do). We ended up getting our van stuck and took about 4 hours to pull out.
My rating has nothing to do with the owners, but with the management company and lack of transparency. When we booked this house in January 2022, the website and the pictures portrayed this as a beachfront home. It wasn't until we got to the location in June 2022 that we saw that a house was built right in front of the house. In addition the app that we were told to use for our stay did not have updated pictures as well, still portraying it as a beachfront home ( they had added one picture sometime after we booked it to the online gallery, which we didn't look at because we were told to use the app instead).I reached out to the management company to share feedback and ask for some consideration on price and they said that they had notified us properly and that the pricing reflected a Gulfside property (which we would have no way of knowing because when we booked it said gulf front). They said that in our confirmation email, which mind you is AFTER we had booked, had ONE line of fine print at the bottom said that it was Gulfside. On the top of this same email, it still said gulf front. After this response, I did give them feedback to make sure that their listings were consistent across all areas of documentation and pictures, so that guests are not surprised, but I did not receive a response. I try my hardest to share feedback with the company prior to putting a negative review to make sure I am understanding both sides, unfortunately, in this case, the management company...
