I'm an avid crafter and frequent Michael's for a variety of items including baking molds, stickers, paper, glitter, yarn, adhesives and much more. Crafting should be a relaxing, enjoyable experience, yet nearly every trip to Michael's results in frustration.
Tonight was my last visit.
This Michael's is routinely understaffed. Nearly every time I head to the checkout, there's only one person working a register. A line quickly forms and most times, backup is called. But checking out is never a quick experience. There have been several trips where I've just dumped my items and left due to the frustration of time spent waiting to check out. I can't express this enough: this happens regularly. And it's been happening for years. It usually seems to be evenings, but I've seen it happen on weekends during the day, too.
Tonight, when I went to check out, surprise suprise, there was only one checkout lane open. A line quickly formed behind me. At the time, I was third in a line of what quickly became eight people. Nearly ten minutes passed as the checkout woman rang and then re-rang the first customer as they debated over some sale prices. Another five minutes passed. I heard the checkout woman comment that she didn't think it'd be that busy, and that's why she'd sent the other girl to lunch. I definitely saw other people working the store while I was shopping. There were at least four employees in the store while I was there, yet no one was called to checkout. Finally, after I got through the line, someone was called who was scanning and bagging items so they could check out faster (why they just didn't open another register is beyond me). At this point, there were ten people in line.
As I was checking my receipt, I noticed my 20% coupon didn't clear. I got back in line, this time about tenth in line. I asked the "scanner" lady if I'd have to go through the line again as my discount wasn't taken off, and she apologized and say unfortunately, yes. I wasn't willing to wait, ten or people deep to go through getting my problem fixed. My first wait was 10 minutes and I was beyond frustrated. I left.
It's simply not worth the hassle anymore. Also, the Michael's rewards program seems to have no benefit. The coupons available to me as the same as what's available for non-members.
Please, consider getting this store adequately staffed. I'm taking my crafting...
Read morethis store has to have the worst customer service in the qca. i shop here semi-frequently as i work nearby, and honestly never have a pleasant experience. i have literally never been approached by an associate as i walk through the aisles of this store. when i’m ready to check out there are most times multiple associates just standing around behind the register, talking or playing on their phones. they act like you don’t exist since they have the self check out kiosks now. but you can’t use them if you pay cash, or if you need to use their UPS access point. whenever they finally notice you, they act very inconvenienced by you. there have also been multiple times where i was able to use the self checkout, but it would pause and blink due to needing associate assistance. again, the employees just ignore you. there was one specific instance where an employee kept walking back and forth behind the registers while my self checkout was blinking and did nothing, just talked to their coworker. i verbally asked for assistance and she finally helped. there is so much more i could say about this location but i’ll end it with this. I called an told them and the person was more concerned about me sending the wrong items back them sending out the correct item. I told her I would send them back as long as they sent me a UPS label. A week later I still hadn't received a label or my correct item which of course was a Christmas gift. I called back and I was told that I had to send back the wrong item first before they would send the corrected item. I sent back the wrong items on 1/5/2024 (which were 3 strands of Christmas lights). As of 2/8/2024 I still hadn't received my corrected item so I called again. Of course they are out of stock (they were 2 3ft pre lit Christmas trees a $90 value). I asked when was someone going to notify me or give me a refund. The manager said that the system would automatically do that. I asked how long before an item was out of stock before it would give a refund and she couldn't answer that question.
