Video Games Etc — Local services in Davenport

I have shopped at this store for my video game needs for 15+ years. For the majority of that time, it has been a fun experience. Video Games Etc. has a more mom-and-pop feel, for those who get tired of the more corporate options. This does not mean the selection takes a hit. New, old, and classic games are always on the shelves, going above and beyond other second hand options. Products seem to be checked well before being put on the shelves. I have rarely had to return games here.

Recently, employee practice has caused me to give this location a 3 star. In the past, when purchasing a game at this store I would be asked if I wanted to preorder any upcoming games. Although it is an annoying question, I understand why it's asked. Personally, I don't believe in preordering. Lately, however, I am approached by an employee during every visit. The usual "Can I help you find anything?" is asked, which I politely decline. At this point, I would suspect that there would be no further conversation necessary. Instead, I'm asked what systems I have and what types of games I like. The employee leads me to the games for the systems I stated and points out what games I would like. This practice is both inconvenient and annoying. Call me antisocial, but I like to keep my shopping experience to myself. I know who and how to ask for help and I know where to find games for the systems I own. Please stop this annoying process every time I enter the store. It has caused me to avoid shopping at...

Video games ect has a amazing selection of collectible cards and video games. Everything there is very organized and neat. If you are looking for cards most thing in the binders are less than 25$ again that is most things. Most things in the case are above 25 I am unsure about magic the gathering or yugioh cards because I have only went there looking for pokemon. The staff here is great always willing to help out the customer whenever they need it. The only thing I do not like about this place is that there trade in value is worse than a few other places but that isn't a big deal seeing as that is just how they do things. I would highly recommend going here if you are looking for cards and games. Do not sell any items to video Game etc ! These people will cheat you out of your money with not even a reasonable price. They tried to give a 2b BRAND NEW full memory and never used that’s worth $90 but tried to buy it off my husband for $15. And a VR aim controller WITH the game included in the box that’s worth $170 and they only offered him $10 for it. The full offer set is worth $200 and the only thing they would offer was a total of $30. I will never go to them again to buy anything. They say they have a “price book” and that’s all they offer for high priced items. No wonder they never have anything new and popular because they won’t pay reasonably for it.
