Decent store, garbage FFL transfer policy for those without a CCW. I usually purchase my firearms and facilitate transfers through larger retailers, but this time I decided to support a small local business and run a transfer through them to test the waters.
The 3-day wait at SWUB begins when you pay the transfer fee in-store and after the firearm is received and checked in by them, this is a store policy and not FDLE law. This is not in any way stated on their website or communicated to you during the transfer process until you are in-store and ready to take your new firearm home. FDLE law states that the 3-day wait begins when money is transferred to the retailer FOR the firearm, i.e. online firearm purchase date. During an FFL transfer, SWUB Tactical is only transferring the firearm, not selling it to you. Therefore, the 3-day waiting period would likely pass during transit for most online orders, prior to being received by SWUB Tactical. I had to wait a total of 17 calendar days (11 days in transit from the retailer, 6 additional days with the firearm sitting in-store) from the date of my initial online purchase....ridiculous.
Spencer, You made it clear when challenged that your store policy is based on your "conservative interpretation" of the law, so it is obvious you will not be changing it. It would behoove you to at a minimum, mention this store policy in email correspondence during the transfer coordination, so customers are not blindsided⦠Please mention specifically on your website that the 3-day wait begins at the moment of the FFL transaction fee in your store that takes place, after the firearm arrives. There are many FFL's in the area that do not have this store policy and count the business days from the date your online purchase is made through the retailer selling the firearm, correctly following FDLE law. This is verified by presenting a dated receipt or invoice for said online firearm purchase. Had I known this upfront, I would have used a different FFL for the transfer and avoided this experience and negative...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDon't get me wrong the people at SWUB are great but this last purchase I made was not a good experience. I purchased a rifle that had to be ordered and after receiving it made the mistake of not removing all items from the packaging. The magazine for my purchase is made of aluminum and when looking under the soft plastic I saw it was there so I inspected the rifle, completed my purchase, and left. The issue is they had hidden the feed lips of the magazine under the paperwork so I couldn't see the fact that the top was cracked and bent on the feed lips rendering the magazine destroyed. I get that the manufacture may of sent them a piece of junk. I get I should have fully inspected all contents before finishing my purchase. But it leaves a sour taste in my mouth to know that it was just passed off and no quality control was set in place. It was also hidden so someone had seen it and stuck a paper booklet around the top. I have bought new magazines and the rifle is fully functional and awesome and exactly what I wanted.
UPDATE The staff at SWUB reached out to me in an attempt to make things right. I unfortunately travel heavily, so to keep it short and to be fair, the fact that they cared enough to reach out and correct the issue is enough to change my rating (originally 2 stars now 5). In the end replacements for what I need are 4 USD so I bought 10 and am very satisfied with the roller-lock...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Handgun Essentials class was so exceptional that I had to write this review! Iām a novice and a grandma and it has been years since Iāve had any experience with firearms. I was so nervous about even going into the store that I waited until my husband could come with me that first time. Everyone was so informative, non-condescending and professional that after talking a bit and asking questions, I was comfortable enough to sign up and take the Handgun Essentials class by myself. The instructor, Tony, has an extensive background in the military and the class is formatted in such a way that concepts are clearly and concisely built on one another, making it not only easy to understand but to retain! The class was amazing! Getting to practice on the range was really great and I left feeling so much more confident than when I walked in. It was super intensive and Iām already looking forward to the next class! I highly recommend this class to anyone, from the novices to the experienced, it was so worth it and you never know what you...
