Old Prison Museum Gift Shop — Local services in Deer Lodge

We took enjoyed visiting this museum so much. The history of the old prison is very interesting (but warning, not really appropriate for young children in my opinion. ie. a bit scary and graphic descriptions of violent interactions between prisoners and guards etc).

The car museum is FABULOUS!!! You will be amazed that such a small town has such a well preserved collection of cars from the earliest cars to American muscle to unique one of a kind custom cars. It is so much bigger than it looks from the outside!

Best part... you can see all of the museums...

We went through the museum which for the most part was good, but apparently their roof is leaking and alot of the cars where all covered up. Get done and go on the gift shop to buy grandkids gifts, and were informed by the guy working that he didn't think anyone was there and closed his till. And they where supposedly open another hour, Google says they close at 6 and we walked in the gift shop at 5:05. I guess they don't need the extra money from sales. We’ve driven bye on the freeway many times, and this time decided to stop. Glad we did. The prison museum is fascinating, and educational and entertaining. It’s a self guided tour with easy to read informative signs throughout.

The cars in the museum are fantastic! Kinda dusty, but just fantastic.

We didn’t do all the buildings (missed the ones across the street), but the ones we did were definitely worth it.
