I've been coming to Congress Nails for years. Today was my second & last visit with the new owners. The new environment is unprofessional (work attire, loud conversations, personal phone calls etc.) & very few employees. I came in for a manicure & eyebrow (cleaning) I was seated then waited for 10 minutes for the woman to start. She then sat down, put her headphones in & scrolled through her phone to pick a song. I waited for a minute. Unlike, the owner, she didn't follow the manicure procedure she did random things, shaped them unevenly, handled my feet with too much pressure, left bruises after picking & cleaning under my nails, sung aloud, started conversations, walked around & this dragged out a 45 minute procedure to 1 hour 15 minutes. She set a timer to finish, yet, it went off & she continues to spend too much time with distractions & doing her own methods. She then claimed she'd "fix" the polish on my toe she messed up but then started to work on another client. Also, I asked for an eyebrow cleaning but instead the woman shaped them. She made them to thin. She asked if I liked them yet there's nothing I could do when the hair is already removed. I am fully disappointed & would love to have my money returned. I will not be returning unless there's some changes. This place has...
Read moreAs a Black-owned nail shop, I was excited to support Them and get my nails done there. However, the experience left much to be desired.
I asked if they had acrylic gel powder, and they said yes. I checked and confirmed they did, so I requested a refill. Then Jay asked, “Did the last person dip your nails? Because you’ll have to soak them off.” I explained no, I just wanted a refill. The last person used a brush and dipped it into the acrylic powder.
The lady then told me someone else could probably do my nails, so I went to that person and explained what I wanted. She said she could do it and quoted me $40. Then Jay interrupted, saying, “She didn’t get them done here, so it’s extra. We don’t know what kind of mess people walk in with, and she has to shape them.”
I was shocked. I laughed and told them I’d just go back to my usual salon. For context, I had a short, square-shaped, solid nude set that cost me $40 at my regular spot. Now this shop was charging $45 for a REFILL just because I didn’t originally get my nails done there, plus extra to “shape them”? Shaping is part of the job!
I only stopped here because it’s two minutes from my workplace, but the experience was disappointing. Y’all need...
Read moreI wanted to like them so bad since it’s a nail salon right across from where I live and the people working there are super cool but unfortunately I walked out extremely unsatisfied. I went in asked for French tip nails squared the African American lady doing my nails shaped them terribly and made the edges on my nails so sharp it hurts when I scratch myself. There’s also missing polish and the gel polish is already peeling and it’s been only a few days since I’ve got them done. The service took over 2 hours and it just felt very unprofessional. I kept my mouth shut and paid for the service and included a tip for everyone because that’s just how I am the lady who cashed me out then said “most people don’t even tip” which made sense since the service was terrible. I just don’t even have Patience with these nail salons anymore to even speak up it’s all just mediocre service with people doing nails who have no idea what they’re doing. I’d advise anyone looking to come here to stay away and find a place that actually has customers in their on a Saturday afternoon and a place where they aren’t shocked when you tip them for the...
