I am very disappointed in the root touch up color I received at Hair Bar NYC in Delray. I went their on November 14, 2024 for a root touch up. I told the stylist that I like my current color, and showed her a picture of what color my previous stylist used in NY. The appointment was very pleasant. She was very nice. We chatted. I had a manicure done while we were waiting for the dye to set. I told her that I do not need a blow dry because my hair is treated with the Japanese straightening and it does not need to be blown out. She blew out a small section to show me the color. I mentioned that it looks to dark. She assured me that it would lighten when it dries. Later, when my hair dried, I was not happy. The root touch up was way to dark. You could see line across my head where the old color was and the new color. I called and made an appointment to go in Saturday November 16,2024 to fix my hair. When I arrived on 11/16, they sat me down and put a cape on me. The stylist told me that she was sorry, and they would fix my hair. All the stylists were coming to look at my hair, and meeting to discuss how to fix my hair. I don’t think they knew what to do. I could see another stylist looking on his phone and asking Siri what to do. After a while, the original stylist came over and brought me to the sink. She said they are going to fix it in the sink because it will be very fast. The other stylist (the one asking Siri) was the one doing the fix. I did not realize they were going to be bleaching my hair. The bleach was hurting my eyes. The original stylist told me to just keep my eyes closed. As I was lying there, they kept checking my hair. After a while, they rinsed and washed my hair. Stylist #2 left, and the original stylist added color to my hair. She combed the color through my whole head. After another period of time, she washed my hair. I was at the sink for at least 45 minutes. I think they wanted to do this at the sink, so I could not see what they were doing. As she brought me to her chair, She through a towel in the sink so I could not see how much hair loss I had. She told the shampoo person that she would be back to clean it up. She brushed out my hair, and dried a small section of it. I told her that is was still too dark. She told me it would lighten up. I went to my car to cry. The color was still too dark. And the color I loved, was no longer there because she brushed the new color through my whole head of hair. I went back in to the salon because I wanted to talk to the manager. I sat there a while waiting for her. She was not any help. She told me I could make another appointment to fix it. I do not want my hair bleached again. This is not what I expected. If she could not match the color, she should have said so. They should not have bleached my hair without my permission. Read moreI have been a customer of NYC Hair Bar Delray since my current hair dresser began working at the salon. I purchased 2 packages for both a blowout and hair colorings to use with my stylist. Before I could use up my packages the stylist left the salon leaving me with unused services. I. Called the salon to ask for a pro rated refund for the packages and was told a manager would call me back. That didn’t happen so I called a second time and was told I must find another stylist as packages are non-refundable. I signed no contract, nor was there ever a mention of non refundability. The young lady helped me reschedule since I let her know in advance that I wasn’t feeling too well. She advised me to be on the safe side, not to show up for my appointment wearing a mask but to come back when I feel better. She was patient, professional and understanding.
