This was a 5 star review until just recently. You do get good bargains and they go fast. The gentleman today (one a stocker the other I'm not sure) were the most helpful and kindest in the store. That was until I got to the front. I stand in the line closest to the door with 3 if my kids. The light was in and green. Both lines were about equal in customers. I had just 5 items in my cart (3 bags of brownie brittle, a box of lantern LED lights and a fan).At that time, there was 2-3 carts ahead of me and no one behind me. So, as I'm waiting the cashier check outs the group of ladies ahead of me, hugs them, laughs with them, and sends them on their way. I pull up, smile and am about to put my items on the counter when the cashier shews me and my three kids away as she points to her light and walks away. You're NOT reading this in correctly. I then had to go to the next line which was starting to grow. It was super long by the time I left, and that cashier had to call for back up. I believe we stood in both lines for a total of 10-20 minutes.
I get that it's a holiday weekend. I also get that the time we were there was in the evening (6 O'clock hour), so it was busier and it may have been their lunch break. However, it would have only taken a total of 5 minutes or less to check us out. What the first cashier did was unprofessional and unacceptable. Therefore, Ollie's will no long get business from us.
P.s. I've never had a problem with Ollie's until today. Very...
Read moreThis is a store that sells mostly 'Closed out' items such as from stores that went bankrupt, etc. The prices are just slightly lower, but selections can be very limited. And items availability can also be simply by chance... So, if you see something you like, and you know that the price point is acceptable to you, then you should buy it - because when it's gone, it may never be available at the store again. Return policy is 30 days with receipt. As to food stuffs... Interestingly, they have their own 'Packaged for Ollie's' basic spices, such as onion salt/powder. Which is good, as closed out spices maybe questionable in quality. Now, because most items (food stuff included) are either closed out or something that Ollie's can buy bulk, which may include something that don't sell well at their original stores, they can be of interesting flavours. For example, I saw some interesting potato chips, but it didn't taste quite quite as good as it is labelled (it is still fresh, but it was possibly a trial flavor that failed to sell at the original stores, so Ollie's is able to picked them up for a cheap bulk rate, and sell them at Ollie's) The key to shopping at Ollie's is to be as if you are prepared for 'The price is Right', and know/evaluate the quality of the item you want, then you can...
