Ben Thanh is the name of the historic, cultural landmark in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly called Saigon) in Vietnam so when I saw the name I had to check it out. They do have an array of Vietnam imported products, all frozen, fish and sea food, ready-to-eat specialties, vegetables, fruits. I had never seen so many different kinds of fish. I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know what to get. What I did get: frozen 100% sugar cane juice, passion fruit pulps; fresh taro, bitter squash, herbs, and chrysanthemum shoots; fresh whole Basa. The man was so helpful and kind; he cleaned, cut it into perfect size for “canh chua cá kho tộ”. I can’t wait to go there again for other products. Read moreNo way! I stopped by this place a couple of weeks back, and decided to pick up some soy beans. The 5 Lb bag had no expiration or manufacture date of any kind, I thought it can't be too bad, they are just beans.... Wrong! Now matter how long I cook them, they are not possible to chew. Those beans must be so old and dried out that it's impossible for cooking to eat. I don't wanna drive all the way there just to ask my money back, it's my mileage, my time and effort, I ended up just toss the whole bag of beans. Those beans were from China by the way.
P.S.: I did check out their vegetables, they are not as fresh as some of the reviews say.... I didn't buy, -- I didn't think they are as fresh...
