MISLEADING ON PRICE POINTS & BURNT FINGERS I don’t normally do this … write a poor review or give only two start but my experience today at Top Style Nails in Denville was not good. At all.
While the place is clean and looks welcoming, the service needs serious improvement. I arrived as a walk in and only had to wait about 10 min which was ok. Before sitting down to wait I asked the receptionist how much a gel pedicure and gel manicure would cost. She said $68. When I was called in to sit on a pedi chair, the pedicurist handed me a laminated menu with prices and said to pick which service I wanted. I said “just the regular pedi. The gel mani and pedi that is $68”. She then told me that the price for the two was actually $89. And even more if I wanted one of the “Spa” pedis. Which was disconcerting and misleading. They told me that $68 was for a regular polish pedicure. So I asked for just a regular pedicure with polish but since I have gels on my toes already they informed me it would still cost an extra $15 to take the gel off !! I decided to ditch the pedi and just go for the mani. Was then lead to a manicure chair where the tech started to file off the gel from my nails but using the electric file and pressing very hard generating a ton of heat was super painful. I’ve had this done many times but never do painful. When I said as much, she switched to soak them off. I’ve had gels soaked off with acetone before without any issue. I don’t know what chemical they use at Top Style Nail but after a few minutes of the foil wrap soak, my fingers started burning. I looked around for my nail tech and she was MIA. Finally got the receptionist attention and she took off the soak and smudged cuticle oil all over my fingers and then used a hot towel (which made the burn WORSE!). And I was then told to wash my hands. Went over to the sink and ran cold water on my hands. By the time I went back to the chair there was no one there. So they essentially burned my fingers and didn’t seem to care enough to even check in on me. I waited a few minutes there thinking someone would come back to continue with the manicure but after a while no one came. I went to reception and told them my fingers burned and I was just going to go. All I got in response was “ok. Sorry”. not an experience I ever want to repeat. Not only would I not recommend this place, I would actively caution to not go there. I’m sorry … but that’s...
Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE! I have never felt so uncomfortable in any line of business I’ve been into. I called ahead to make an appointment and mentioned if it was ok if I brought my own gel nail polish base (rubber gel nail polish) which I was told was ok. I sat with my nail tech named GRACE who I mentioned, that I did not want that machine to be used on my nails, since they were already very fragile, instead to use acetone like I normally do to take them off. Then she tells me that I will be paying extra for this service (an extra $8), I also told her that I had brought my own gel base that I wanted to use and tells me that I will be paying extra for that as well (an extra $10). Through out my whole time being there Grace was abruptly harsh as if she did not want me there as a customer. She kept speaking to her coworkers complaining about everything as if I wasn’t there. She definitely skipped nail prepping procedures to get me out of there. My nails came out super clumpy and out of shape, never in my life has ever happened. I had referred a friend to come with me hence I been to this nail salon before (far different experience, which is why I referred her in the first place) and she herself told the front desk lady that she was not coming back ever again and the lady could of cared less. Since she also was getting charged extra for picking a range of colors for her nails, something thats normal at any other nail salon. Even after we voiced how unhappy we were, nothing was done to make us feel at ease or accommodate us (no discount was giving). They had the audacity to ask how I was tipping after the worse experience of my life. SAVE YOUR MONEY LADIES, I PAID $59 for those nails in...
Read moreI left worse off than going in! The picture is how they sent me out of the salon today. This was not a little nick but a decent chunck of skin plucked out of my finger. My pedicure was ok, I opted for a spa pedicure and it was very bare minimum and underwhelming. Very rushed! The woman who did it was awkwardly trying to hand me the ticket while one hand was being worked on and the other still in uv lights, so she handed it to my manicurist instead when I expressed my hands were kind of tied up jokingly. The manicurist was working on me and in turn nicked me and apologized. A few more small ones occurred prior to that… Hey, it happens. I told her not to worry about it and moved on. However, right at the end she cut me badly on the side of my finger, deep. Resulting in not only a painful experience, but an unattractive service. I stopped going here for a reason even though it is a few minutes from my home…friends talk about the bad experiences they have had here…but out of convenience today, I regretably gave it another shot. I was quickly reminded why it has such a bad reputation. I never ever complain about these things and would never want to leave a bad review but felt with this one was deserved by their lack of effort and empathy. Accidents happen, but no solution was provided until they saw the bleeding would not subside and begrudgingly offered 8$ off of the $104 service. If you want a salon that does not stand by their work and does not care about people this is it. It is a factory. I know the girl that did it was sorry, but management should have done better. Stay...
