Derby Mattress — Local services in Derby

I came in with my adult autistic son to look for a mattress, box spring and bedframe. The owners son was there when we arrived. He was about to go on a delivery. He showed me the bed we talked about earlier on the phone. I didn't like that bed very much ad it wasn't plush enough for our liking. I found a nice pillow top bed that both Sam and I approved of and we really liked. The owner lady said some things to me that didn't sit well with me. I didn't like the tone she used with me. Meanwhile this man came in and she took off to the other side of the store talking with him. Sam and I had decided already and we wanted that beautiful pillowtop. So, I set my son and myself on a bed that was in sight of the lady owner and we waited. I really don't think that man was going to buy anything at that time. But they were talking and she's telling him that she doesn't come in til 1 pm. Her son opens and she closes according to their conversation. Sam and I sat there while she jawed with that man. There wasn't even an "I'll be with you in a minute" or any acknowledgement of Sam and I at all. So once I had had enpugh, Sam and I left. We went to the bank and took 900 dollars out, but I was so upset with that woman. Sam and I went to Matress Hub. The elderly gentleman at Mattress Hub was showing me inexpensive beds and I informed him that I had 900 dollars in cash and if he wanted it, he better show me something nice. He showed me a bed and it was alright. I didn't like it as much as the pillowtop we found at Derby Matress, but there was no way I was giving that rude woman a dime of my 900 dollars that I alotted for Sam's bed. You people need a lesson in not judging a book...

Warning customers, do not purchase an "Englander" mattress. This has been a most disappointing experience. January 16th, I purchased an "Englander" mattress from Derby Mattress. It was delivered 1/22/19. Within 2 weeks there was an indention in the mattress. It was at least 2 inches deep. I called Derby Mattress & arrangements were made to have another of the same delivered. I have had the 2nd one since 2/23/19. It too is developing an indention. This one is not as fast & deep as the 1st. I am not a big person; 5'3" & 150lbs. This brand is obviously faulty. I have been told by Derby Mattress & the warranty co that I cannot do anything until the indention is 2inches deep & then I can file a "Warranty" claim. With the progress of the indention it will not make it to the 10 yr warranty. I am a senior citizen on a very fixed income & certaintly cannot afford to buy a new mattress every time you...

If you’re looking for a store who could care less about you as a customer I would highly recommend Derby Mattress. The sales person was not particularly friendly when I purchased my mattress and a week later when I called to see why I hadn’t heard from her about delivery I found the mattress had not shipped. Accidents happen, I get that, but this person was not the least bit apologetic about the situation while telling me what had happened or when giving me my refund. Couldn’t even be bothered to get up out of her chair and bring me the check or apologize. Jeez!

Exactly the response I expected from this business. Here’s a thought. If you know you have an unhappy customer coming in for a refund, have the refund ready, politely excuse yourself from your current customer when they arrive, hand them their refund and apologize for mixup.
