Dunham's Sports — Local services in Derry Township

Been here 2 times in the past 2 weeks to purchase a handgun. Both times i spent over an hour in the store waiting for someone to assist me in the hunting department. The first trip i did not seek assistance but just walked around and continuously kept checking back at the counter in the hunting department for a sales person but every time i checked there was no one there to assist me. The second trip i made i went immediately back to the hunting department and of course once again there was no sales person. I then went to the front checkout and asked for assistance in the hunting department. The woman called for assistance right away. I was expecting to get someone who actually knew something about the guns they are selling but instead i was assisted by an elderly woman who knew nothing what so ever about guns and was only able to let me see them. She then told me the sales person in charge of that department was unloading a truck and would be able to assist me in 15 to 20 minutes. I said that was fine and i would shop around for a while. For the next hour and 20 minutes i continously kept checking back at the sales counter in the hunting department and no one was ever there to assist customers and i was not the only one waiting for assistance. Needless to say i still was not able to make my purchase nor will i buy from them now. I will drive out of my way and go to a store where customer service is available. This store has friendly employees who are eager to help you. I asked two different employees about sales as I needed to buy school supplies for four kids. When I asked about boys shoes on sale, the shoe department lady was polite and said the selection of kids shoes along the wall and one rack beside the wall was all they had, however, I later ran into the clearance shoe rack that had more kids shoes on them. I wasn't familiar with the store so I didn't even know it existed. The bathroom was very clean, with no bits of paper on the floor, and the toilet paper was well stocked. It also smelled nice. The store itself was well organized and clean too except for the sales racks. All of the sales racks were together except the girls, therefore, I walked back and forth between the girls and boys a few times until I found what I was looking for in the front of the store. The front of the store had sales racks with everything except girls sales. Other than that, it was a pleasant shopping experience. Our family of four visited this Dunham's on a Saturday morning to buy each of us a kayak. Mike, the store manager, came over to offer assistance immediately and was friendly, super knowledgeable and patient. He's been kayaking for many years and had a lot of really helpful advice for gear selection. Our family is new to kayaking and we range in size from 6'3"/250 lbs down to an average sized 9 year old kid. Mike patiently worked each of us through kayak and paddle selection, explaining pros and cons of various options given our size and personal preferences.
