Hobby Lobby — Local services in Des Moines

I walked in to grab one item for a wedding I was in the store for a max of five minutes by the time I checked out and was walking out the door.

The incredibly rude and unqualified assistant manager stopped me, which was fine. I showed her my receipt and she just stared at me like I did something.

I was wearing a skirt and a shirt with no pockets and carrying a tiny clutch as I was on my way to a wedding which I told her, I was there to buy the cake cutter!

She insists I open my purse which only had my coin purse and a lipstick in it. She tried to grab my purse and did touch it but I instantly pulled away. I figured this would shut her up that she saw that there was nothing in my purse, she STILL insisted I open up my tiny coin purse! I pulled out all my money because clearly this woman is to incompetent to understand that this was clearly a fluke.

Thank you for almost making me late to a wedding Melanie, I will be calling cooperate. It was clear I didn’t steal anything but this woman was on a power trip.

Also, I did take a picture of her name tag because I wanted to make sure I could remember her name, she follows up by trying to cover up her name tag. If Melanie didn’t do anything wrong, why would she feel the need to cover up her name tag, especially as a manger? I’d...

I absolutely LOVE shopping at this location. My main reason is due to an employee named Rhonda. She is so friendly and kind! My first time shopiing here was terrible. I was not helped what so ever, and when i asked where to find something the employees acted like i was bothering them (this was 2 years ago in early 2013). I went in on June 11th sceptical and left grinning ear to ear! Rhonda seen me wondering, stopped what she was doing and politely asked me if i needed help. She walked me to the isles i needed and explained/pointed out the great deals they were having! I came in June 12th and seen her again, she checked me out this time and asked about my day, double wrapped my things, and of course was super sweet. I came in again today (i kept running out of supplys) I was all turned around and couldnt figure out where i needed to find the scrap book stickers... she seen me again, greeted me with a huge smile, and walked me to my isle (Again!) Then explained even though the 50% off signs were gone they still honored the sale until tomorrow! I bought 2x as much as originally planned. I absolutly loved the customer service and will always shop there for mt crafting needs...

I went into hobby lobby on army post rd on the 22 of August 2014 to pick up some art supplies. I am a disabled vet with P.T.S.D. so with that said a manager walked up to me and told me that i had to leave. I stated that he was a service animal. He than ask me if I had papers saying that he was indeed a service animal. What he didn't know is I do not have to have papers or have my puppy wear a vest. He got real persistent, that when I started to have a panic attack and my puppy was whining because he was getting to close to me. He can since when I am going to have an attack. So as for a rating I am going to give them all 0's because of this incident. Before a manager can become a manager they should have to learn all about the A.D.A (American Disability Act) it is a fedral offence to discriminate agganst disable people...
