While shopping at the Goodwill today I found it necessary to take my mask down to catch my breath due to the fact that I have a chronic heart disease that often leaves me short of breath and cause me to pass out very easily while wearing a mask too long. As soon as I took my mask down I was approached by an employee named Alexis and was told that I had to have my mask on I explained to her that I have a chronic heart disease and that it is necessary for me to be able to catch my breath every once in awhile but that I always make sure I'm further away than six feet from any other person before I do this and if I come anywhere near anybody else I put it back on. She said that that was not acceptable it had to be on the whole time I was in the store I then explained to her also that I have been vaccinated on top of that wearing my mask for as long as periods as I possibly can before I take it down to catch my breath. She said she did not make the policy but they she was required to enforce it I said that was fine I would no longer be able to shop here and I would never return here again and I found that to be very disappointing that the Goodwill who is supposed to be all about helping people with disabilities has no compassion towards somebody with a chronic heart condition told me I had to leave the store if I did not leave my mask on the whole time I was in there. Wearing a mask is a policy not a law and policies should always be flexible when it comes to a medical condition or a disability of any sort and should be at the discretion of the employee or the manager on duty. I hope that good will take a look at this policy and make sure that it is modified for such circumstances. And meantime I plan on making sure that everybody I run across nose the inflexibility and cold-heartedness of...
Read moreI love this place first for the cheap, but really quality pillows of all types ..I found a huge boppy pregnancy pillow once n almost got stuck paying for it by the lb., which still woulda been a decent price but the cashier told me they were all only like 59 cents not over a dollar even for often nice dog beds, decorative ones for the couches etc.. rugs and brand name clothes are also some of my favorites to dig thru here.. it gets kinda serious tho with some of these scavengers when they come out w the bins all I can think is I’m stuck in the firey part of the lion king where all the hyenas impatiently waiting ready to run up from behind ready to take a bite out of whoever doesn’t keep your elbows out n don’t let yourself get pushed or sum cuz they’ll try.. OTHERWISE BEST STORE I LOVE IT!! Highly recommend to everyone, honestly my homeless ass deserves the a gift certificate or something I’ve turned sooo many ppl on to this all thru the US. The Denver ones were good too n big but ppl were thirsty af over there, don’t ask me how this possible, but they were actually selling stuff to ppl before they even paid for the shit..so although it was bigger w more name brand clothes and nice blankets n shoes over dea monies. The employees in Denver ones were rude and incompetent af and at least in Des Moines ppl are usually genuinely nice and there’s at least some law n order.. even a year later I’m still mad af enough about it idk why bc ik it probably seems so petty but it’s like eating most of the order of fries and then having the employees who work at McDonald’s assist u in selling the rest of your box to ppl individually. It’s ridiculous! But this one in Des Moines the staff actually are nice n...
Read moreAt the Urbandale, Iowa location on 100th St. the manager sold a table to a customer after I had torn off the bottom part of the receipt. The table was too large to put into a shopping cart so I left the table on the sales floor. This is how they do it at the Goodwill store with large items that you are not able to fit into your cart. Another customer viewed the table after me and brought the top part of the For sale sign up to the cash register, and was allowed to purchase it. In the meantime, I was able ti get the table into my cart. The manager told me the item had already been paid for. They allowed the other customer to pay for the table with the top part of the sales tag which is against their stated rules on the tag that you must have the bottom portion of the tag to be able to purchase the item. I explained I had the bottom part of the sales tag and it should not have been sold to the other customer. The manager refused to refund the other customer because it had “already been paid for“ and that it would have to be brought to the customer through the back door for her to pick it up. I continued to explain to the manager that it never should have been sold to the other customer as she was not in possession of the bottom portion of the tag as I was. I asked for a manager and she said she was the manager!! so there was no point in tearing off the bottom part of the receipt because they sell it to anybody anyway. Apparently to whoever gets to the cash register first. Poor excuse for a manager….a manager, that does not even know how their internal sales...
