This is by far, the cheapest chinese buffet I've ever gone to in my life. It's always $11 but the question is - was it worth it? I say it's 50/50. I've noticed that some of the dishes available to choose from, kinda come off as amateurly done. I praise that there's sesame chicken available, glad I don't have to order it like I do from other chinese restaurants.

But I don't know, I just keep finding myself limited in a way from what's there to pick from. I've been to at least two other chinese buffet places and they've had something to offer everytime I was there. I always had a plate of something different. Yet here, It's guaranteed to be the same.

Oh and I really would like it, as personal preference, is if this restaurant could get an ice cream machine. They still serve ice cream, yeah, but they're in these little cups to compensate. I usually, for dessert, is have a bowl of two cake pieces and ice cream topping it off. I can't do that here, but that's just a preference that doesn't necessarily knock it's score.

What knocks it's score is that the variety could be far more broadened and I see where there's extra cookers ready to be used just for that. I'm wondering when will they be used for...

I would rate this Chinese Buffet among the best I have ever eaten at. I am from Chicago, and we have many, many good Chinese buffets there.

I found this one on-line when we were staying at Scottsbluff, NE, returning from a vacation in Estes Park, CO, and Yellowstone National Park. I had a taste for a good Chinese Buffet, and luckily found New China Buffet & Grill in Des Moines, only minutes from our hotel.

The buffet is large, 5 steam tables worth, with sushi and grill areas too. The crab rangoon are excellent, large, well-stuffed, and fried perfectly. The Mongolian Beef is among the best I have ever had, the coconut shrimp were perfectly cooked, all meat selections were moist, succulent, and tasty, perfectly seasoned to my taste.

The staff were quick, very attentive, and polite.

My Wife and I visit Colorado every two years or so, and Yellowstone occasionally, and we have now added New China Buffet to our list of "Go To" restaurants when we are returning from our trips.

I would divert from a planned route through this area just to eat at New China Buffet. It...

My rating is based on Covid-19 safety guidelines. My family and I typically enjoy New China. Their food is always amazing, and even with our last experience during covid, the food was still great. Unfortunately they did not follow guidelines to keep their guests safe and healthy during this difficult time. Sanitizer was offered at the door but not required, gloves were offered at the buffet but not required while getting food from the buffet line. The biggest bother to me though, masks were required but absolutely not enforced. The place was quite busy considering the situation and more than half of the customers were getting food without masks on and the staff did not have anybody put their masks on. I was highly disappointed that the staff didn't take the appropriate measures to keep their customers safe. I honestly felt I was going to leave the place testing positive with the virus. My family and I will not return to the buffet until the virus is under control or until the company takes the virus...

We visited the New China Buffet & Grill on Army Post Road on a Saturday evening to scope out this restaurant for an upcoming family celebration. I sampled a wide variety of the foods and found everything hot, fresh, and delicious. I especially appreciate that the restaurant provided disposable plastic gloves at the buffet. Using these helps reduce sharing of germs. Service was VERY prompt. Whenever we finished eating from a plate, it was almost immediately whisked away. The restaurant has 3 "party rooms." One is truly separated from everything else by its own round entry. The two smaller party rooms are basically a large room separated by a partial wall partition. We checked out another Chinese buffet in town that also offered a party room, but unlike the New China Buffet & Grill, that restaurant would not guarantee that we would have the room to ourselves for our event. After looking at both restaurants, we reserved the large party room at the New China Buffet & Grill, with no extra charge for use of the room.

Iowa actually was easy to drive around towns, unlike Chicago very populous but takes long driving time to reach point A from point B. All the Chinese buffet restaurant in the East Coast and Midwest menu items were very similar, possibly ordered from same vendors, reheat in the microwave/ stovetop/ oven, else how would they feed ongoing crowd as early as biz opens untill closing, 10hrs long daily and on the weekends too... This Chinese buffet has a spacious well ventilated room that serves buffet bars, and cozy diner booth tables!! 😍 They served yummy palmier cookies and chocolate drizzle puffed pastry cookies!! However, buffet carbs weren't up to standards, noodles were soysauce salty dark, fried rice was undercooked grainy hard, so was the steamed rice without saying. Vermicelli rice noodles most was dry chewy undercooked... The best thing buffet restaurant offered was lemon wedges!!! Service team wasn't friendly, they can refuse to serve anyone... Why were food workers sick with shoe odors???

Been here a couple of times but after tonight 4/14/22 we will never step foot inside here again. We got seated got our food and my oldest daughter went and took a bite out of her sugar biscuit and found a baby cockroach inside of the biscuit. I went up to the register and told them brought it with me and they only said sorry and took 1 meal off. Never will I go there again
