Park Avenue Salon — Local services in Dexter

I’m sorry to have to publish this, because I really don’t want to harm anyone. However, I want to be clear as to the reasons why I’m no longer a customer at Park Avenue Salon. They have a beautiful salon in Dexter, which I wanted to like very much. First appointment went well, but during the second appointment,the same operator cut bangs with out asking if I wanted them. I had just completed the process of growing them out! I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it was a pretty significant mistake. I had asked her how she thought bangs would look, and then I told her, “ no, I want to keep my style the same - with no bangs.” I was very upset by this mistake, as I felt I had been very clear, and hadn’t been asked for any further clarification. I left a message on the shop’s machine-all I ever seem to get is voice mail. The owner did return the call fairly promptly, but to sum things up, she simply responded, “What do you expect me to do?” She agreed to a refund, and then suggested I make an appointment with another operator who specialized in short hair. I took the risk, rescheduled, and the next cut went well, but it’s taking forever to re- grow my style. I do like this stylist, but I don’t get the impression this salon really wants business because 2 of my next appointments were cancelled. I rescheduled one, but the second time around, I was offered no possible alternative times to reschedule. and it is fairly difficult to reschedule at Park Avenue. Then there was the nail tech who left a text message canceling my nail appointment with no reason or to offer alternative dates. I’m done!

Wow! I just read the response to my review, and must say that I’m quite surprised at the vitriol I received for what I feel was an honest review which purposefully avoided any use of stylists’ names. No personal attacks were made in my review, so I can only assume I hit a nerve. This business’ response and personal attacks seem a bit unprofessional. I can understand supporting the employees’ involved in these incidents, however, by the libelous comments made, the owner shows a certain lack of class. Ashley is amazing!!! You can tell she takes pride in her work and has a passion for it. My hair feels so much healthier since I started coming to Ashley. She dyes, cuts, and styles my hair every 2 months. The color lasts around 2 months for me which makes coming here affordable! Every time I leave the salon, I feel beautiful and in such a happy mood. I came to Park Avenue and started seeing Amanda for my cut and color in January of this year. I had previously been to a reputable, well known salon and had a very disappointing experience with trying to get extensions. I have had a lot of disappointing salon experiences in general. I recently got extensions with Amanda and they look AMAZING! Plus they look exactly how she said they would. She is super knowledgeable and it is very apparent in her work.
