American Freight Furniture & Mattress — Local services in Dothan

I cannot stress to you enough, if you need furniture for a new place and you need it today, call American Freight and see if Tony is there. My friend Feliciana needed so much help when she got to the states and let me tell you, of all the things I had to help her with (setting up utilities, a lease, a phone, the bank, internet, getting settled in).. I was so surprised by how painless it was to help her with the whole furniture part of her move.

We stopped at American Freight on the way into town and boy did they come through! We were greeted right away by Tony and I told him I knew it was late in the day but that if he could at least help us get a mattress to her new apartment today that it would save us so much grief, because we would have to stop at walmart and get her an air mattress otherwise.

Tony said that not only where we going to have a mattress today but that he would personally make sure that we furnished the whole apartment and get it there TONIGHT!

When I translated to Feliciana, she got so happy, but I was still a bit skeptical. Tony doesn't look it, but surprisingly he whipped out some spanglish and took us to the mattresses and while he was helping her pick a mattress, I wandered the store.

Feliciana picked out this amazingly plush mattress with cooling gel. It's by far the best mattress I've ever laid on. I don't know the name but he said it a couple times when I went back to see them (3000 something I think). I thought it was going to be like $1,000 dollars but it was about half of that with a box spring, mattress cover thingy and a warranty for a full replacement if it ever slumped or whatever. Tony said that since she probably wouldn't call, to just come see him and that he would remember us and take care of it.

After that, I showed her this really cute sofa love seat combo I saw earlier but it was too big for the floor plan we pulled up online, but Tony suggested we go with the sofa and a matching recliner that he somehow magically pulled out of nowhere! We were pressed for time at that point because we had to meet the landlord so when I told him that, he quickly took us to the dining tables and showed us something that matched PERFECTLY with the coffee table that they had on sale. It's an expresso colored 3pc set and the dining table was small to average but super sturdy and it was only like 300 bucks with 4 chairs. The last thing she needed was at least a night stand for her bedroom and she wanted to keep going with that dark wood color from the living and dining room and she fell in love with this classy dark wood bed-set but I wasn't so sure it was actually good quality because of the price, but Tony literally pulled a drawer out and showed us the criss-cross wood interlocking on the inside (it wasn't that cheap plywood with glue). He said it was dovetail finishing or something like that. And proceeded to show Feliciana how the framing under the bed was also superb. I'll say it again, I cannot stress to you enough, if you need furniture for a new place and you need it today, call American Freight and see if Tony is there. Everyone else seemed really friendly but Tony was the best. He really took the time to help my friend who can't speak perfect english and sure enough the driver called us to tell us he was on the way shortly thereafter. I told him we had just left the apartment to pickup linens and he said he could meet us in an hour if that worked for us and sure enough everything arrived and they took it into the bedrooms, living room and dining room. This was my first time buying from American Freight Furniture. I went online and reviewed lots Furniture stores. American Freight Furniture had the best prices. I went there today. I already had two sets picked out online. When I entered the store I was welcomed by the staff. I browsed around for a few looking and sitting on all the different living room sets. A associate came over and introduced himself. He answered all my questions and the questions he wasn't sure about he found out the answers for me. The name of the associate that helped me was Shamynd. He was very polite, professional, the vibe I got from him was he loved his job and cared about what I was looking for in furniture and not what he thought I should buy (like some other furniture stores have in the past). He didn't pressure me at all. They have an awesome 5 year Furniture protection plan with an awesome price. Shamynd was so cool down to earth he made shopping for living room furniture so pleasurable. They have amazing selections on all furniture and appliances. I was not disappointed at all. I highly recommend this place for your next furniture or appliance purchase you want regret it. So a big thank you to Shamyd for the excellent customer service and helping me pick the perfect couch and love seat to meet mine, and my husband's needs and comfort. He also took in consideration my dog Sully and me wanting something easy to clean and that was durable. I definitely will be going back. You rock...

Update on my previous post below. We did receive the Ottoman finally. Tony (store manager) contacted us as soon as it became available. We met with him when we picked it up and he explained the situation and stated he understood our frustration. I do believe he did everything within his ability to make things right. Based on the managers actions and efforts to make things right, I believe our situation was an anomoly. Not something you can expect from the Dothan store.

Good selection of furniture but be warned, the Dothan, AL store manager promised delivery of the matching ottoman to our sectional within 2 weeks. After these two weeks we called for an update, we were then told another 2 -3 weeks. Both conversations were with the Manager, Tony who said he would email the manufacturer and get us an update. That never happened. After two more weeks we called again, this time speaking to an assistant manager. He now says it will be 2-3 more weeks and he can't do anything because they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. We asked to speak with the regional manager and we were given his number. We left a message but have not heard anything back.

Bottom line, if you shop the Dothan, AL store, make sure you can touch it before paying for it. The promises are only good until you give up the payment and then you are on your own. We are becoming doubtful we will even see the ottoman we purchased and certainly regret trusting the...
