FYE — Local services in Douglasville

My daughter and I visited this store this past Saturday 2/10/24 to spend the remainder on her gift card. The cashier asked if we wanted to sign up for the 10% off discount card, I told her yes. I went ahead and swiped the gift card once and she told me it didn’t go through, she asked me to swipe it again and I did and it didn’t go through that time either. She then went on to say that the 10% off doesn’t work with gift cards and would need to take it off, I told it that was fine. Once she removed the discount she asked me to swipe the card a the third time, when I did it this time it went through on her end but said I had a zero balance on the gift card. I called the back of the card and spoke to a representative that stated there was two transactions made today one in the amount of $31 and a second in the amount of $5 and change which completely emptied the card. I told the rep that we did indeed swipe the card twice but was told that it didn’t go through on the stores end, the cashier showed me the screen saying the transaction was voided. The representative stated that since it went through on their end, that the store was at fault and the owner or manager would need to call. The assistant manager called twice and could never get through to a representative. I even asked for the items to just be refunded back to the card but she stated she couldn’t because in the FYE system, the transaction was already voided. I spent over 45 minutes calling the customer service number and being transferred multiple times and never received any kind of help or resolution. I had a prior engagement that I needed to get to so we had to leave empty handed. My daughter was very upset that not only was she not able to buy her items but that her gift card is also empty. This trip was a total waste of time and of course money because we paid for items that we never received nor were refunded for. I was told that the actual Manager would get back to me by the end of the day, but I haven’t heard from her. I even called store several times to no avail. I’ve already emailed the corporate office in hopes of getting some kind of help as I haven’t received any help from the store. My friend recently went here on 04/10/19 to purchase a couple dvd’s. While checking out he was asked if he would be interested in multiple sales and promotional offers. He kindly declined, but the salesperson continued to push. Eventually, after declining multiple promotions for a few minutes he was offered a magazine subscription that many others have written about in their reviews, saying it is a scam. Keep in mind, my friend has developmental delays and is not able to handle stressful social situations such as this. He did everything he could for 10 minutes to decline this offer. Eventually he gave in after becoming extremely stressed and signed up for the subscription. He was told multiple times that he wouldn’t be charged for this. It was only AFTER his card had been swiped that he was told his card would be charged the full price of the magazine subscription should he fail to cancel. This stressed my friend out so immediately called the number on the information flyer to cancel it. Not only was he not able to cancel it, but they wanted copies of his bank statements. Total scam! I finally was able to call and get it canceled after hours of stress. I’m a manager myself and I understand pushing sales and efficency but I would NEVER have my employees harass disabled individuals into scams for their money. Absolutely ridiculous and...

Fye might have the cringiest store name of all time, but that doesn’t subtract points from this review. The biggest problem is the insane prices on some movies, tv shows, etc. Fye does have a decent section of movies with sleeves so you guarantee you get the full product, but many products are 5x the Amazon asking price. Before buying anything there check Amazon! I have found some things for less but never by much, the most was by $10 on a $100 tv series. The only good part about fye is the ability to check if the movie has a sleeve and some dvds get marked down quite a bit if not bought off the shelf in time. Also, all the preowned movies are in very good conditions almost new. If you are a movie collector, I recommend going. The best advice I can offer is to at minimum check how much the prices on Amazon are and price match. The anime area has some insane prices, one tv series w worth $22 on Amazon is priced at $99 on fye, I’m not kidding, and price matching isn’t allowed from my knowledge.
