Regal Arbor Place — Local services in Douglasville

I think that for most people these days going to watch a film at the movie theater has become a luxury. Going to the movies is an expensive outing, so when you do go, you want to have good service and pay for a good experience, which at minimum means having a clean and cool place, with comfortable seats and good video/audio.

These are all the things that Regal Arbor Place is not. As a citizen of Douglasville, I have come many times to this theater when it first opened and through the years. In recent years it has certainly declined and I do not go often (once a year), but I assure you that a few days ago was the last time I will ever set foot in that place again. Arbor Place Mall Theater has been pretty filthy for a few years, but the last visit was simply unbearable.

I went to watch a movie with my daughter and as soon as we walked in, it was hot like an oven. Unless you are specifically going out of your way, there is no one to check your tickets. The place is poorly attended and run by teenagers. The manager is a bossy teenager treating the other teenagers poorly and worst of all, they lie to your face. The bathroom is so filthy that you are afraid to catch a disease in there. The whole place smells stuffy and dirty. The carpeted floor hasn’t been shampooed in years and shoes stick to the floor when you walk on them. There are popcorn kernels, candy wrappers, trash on the floors in the lobby, and the theater rooms. When I sat in the theater to watch the previews I couldn’t last two minutes. It was so very hot and dense that there was no way I could sit through a movie there, because you simply can’t breathe normally in that place.

So I went back to the entrance and spoke with a girl that was suppose to take tickets and asked her “Is the air conditioning not working or are you guys not running it because there are just a couple of people here?” And she said “no, it doesn’t work. They were going to come and fix today but they didn’t”. And then she added “I can offer you a cup of water to cool off while you watch the movie”. The place is a joke, no professionalism. It is 10:00pm and it is hotter in the theater than in the streets. So I said “I can’t stay in here and I can’t believe you didn’t disclose that when we came in. I can’t pay for a ticket and watch a movie in a place like this. It’s unacceptable”. So I got my daughter from the theater and went to the concessions stand where another teenager told me to wait for the manager. I said that I wanted a refund, that the theater had no air conditioning. She goes “they didn’t tell you that that room doesn’t have air conditioning? Do you want to come back another night?” I said “no, I want a refund. It feels like the whole theater lacks air conditioning, not just that room. And, if it is just that room and this movie just came out, why wouldn’t you show it in an air conditioned room?”. Then she processes the refund and tells me that it is going to take 3 to 4 business days to get my money back. There is plenty of evidence and complaints over the years for someone to do something about this place, but no one seems to care. Douglasville doesn't have a theater, it's about time that we got one.

I will drive 25 to 50 miles to another theater from now on. I am never going to a Regal theater again or Regal Arbor Place again. This place has been filthy and shady for a few years now and clearly no reporting is being done. I got home and checked the other reviews and saw that people have been complaining about the lack of refrigeration there for years!!!! As well as how dirty and unkept it is. And they lied to my face that it was just that room or that they were fixing it today…Save your money and stream something at home or drive a few more miles but don’t give them a cent. They are in the business of...

I will not return to this movie theater. I left my keys in the movie theater and entered the mall to shop. After realizing I left my keys, I went back to the Regal and asked a young man at the ticket counter about my keys. He said he'd check with the manager and instructed me to step aside motioning with his hand as her spoke. I stepped aside and waited.... and waited. I went back to the young man who said that a movie was playing in the theater I was in #5. That seemed to be the end of the question from his view point. I told him I'd check other places to be sure I hadn't left them elsewhere. He said 10-4 and my 8 year old and I started to reviset the other places I'd shopped with my hands full. I'd already checked with security as soon as I realized I didn't have my keys. Now, after checking the other stores, checking with security again and returning to Regal, I asked again if they'd found my keys. No. The young ladies nonchalantly told me that there was a movie playing in the movie theater is been in. No one told me when that movie would finish. It was now 30 plus minutes after the first time I'd checked and it was 8PM. I told ghee young lady I needed to be sure my keys weren't there before the mall closed. She stated that they could not let me enter. I went to get security with ask my bags and my 8 year old in tow. Security was very kind. They walked me back to Regal, past the ladies, and up to the Regal police officer who was providing security. The officer checked with another employee right there in front of me who brought my keys to me. They already had my keys. Security was amazing and kind and helpful. Regal was completely uncaring that my keys were inside, that I had my 8 year old with me, my hands full and had no way to get home with no keys at 8PM. They weren't even helpful enough to ask me where I was sitting in the movie theater or tell me when the movie was over that they insisted I could not interrupt to get my keys. I'm wondering how long they had my keys since when security walked me over, I had my keys within 60 seconds. I live about 45 minutes away roughly. I will not returnto this movie theater ever. I spent about $50 there for movie tickets and a snack. They're already expensive but to be so completely unhelpful when you must have your keys to go home is just...

For some reason there for about 2 weeks we had problems with our membership card for the husband I could show him that it was being taken out of our account but the system was not registering his card working. First time they just went ahead and lives on in but the following week when new movie came out, we had new managers and they were you know what and talking about rude, they were just slap rude and did not offer any means to help us get our situation solved. Well during the middle of the week the car corrected itself and it started working. But to get information from these two it was a male and female, I don't know if they were in training or what but they were just rude and would not be helpful on helping us out here we are paying for something and could not use it. In all the years that we had unlimited and automatically taken out of our account we have never had a problem with the system and had no warning that there was a problem with his card no emails no nothing, no warning., until we would go to scan his card. Once the system was squared away we've had no problems since. But those two weeks forget it and we got no reimbursement know nothing for the situation. At least the system came back up online by the time Lilo & Stitch came out otherwise there would have been a problem big time. The previous manager was always always sweet, the new manager we've got sent those two has been just as sweet so don't ask me why those two had to be such pains. They also had no problem chewing out employees in front of customers. I don't know if they went to a different theater or what but I feel sorry for whoever ended up...
