Iām writing to share an experience I had on the morning of July 3, 2025, at the Doylestown water park pool between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. I hope this feedback can help prevent similar situations for others in the future.
Upon arriving, I was surprised to find what appeared to be an organized class. Wanting to be respectful, I first confirmed with the lifeguard that it was indeed open swim from 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM, and then asked the group if I could share the pool by swimming on lane 3. The woman leading the group responded in an aggravated tone, stating that she was running a class and that I should go elsewhere. When I mentioned that I had confirmed it was open swim, she raised her voice and said she was ātired of being pushed around.ā I attempted to ask the lifeguard for support, but was simply told I could use the larger pool instead. I ultimately chose to practice at the cove area. While I had remained calm and tried to resolve the situation respectfully, I felt deeply discouraged. I knew I was following the YMCAās guidelines, yet I felt unsupported and isolatedāespecially in a space that I trust to be inclusive and respectful. To her credit, the woman leading the group did approach me as I was leaving to apologize. She admitted that it was not a scheduled class. While I appreciated her apology, the situation could have been avoided with clearer expectations and stronger on-the-spot support.
This experience highlights the need for clearer communication and consistent staff response when members are faced with confusion or confrontation. A simple reminder to guests and staff about shared pool use during open swim hoursāand clarification on the difference between scheduled and informal gatheringsācould go a long way in preventing misunderstandings like this in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to listen, and for your commitment to fostering a respectful and welcoming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI currently run Cross country and Track for a near school. My work schedule doesnāt allow me to always run during the day, and itās very icy out/ was dark out when I called. The treadmills at my school donāt go faster than 5 min mile pace. I had called to ask if they could check if they are faster because I needed to do a specific workout. The women I had talked to was extremely condescending telling me to walk into the gym and talk to one of the workers. This is after I explained I was on a time restriction and wanted to just ask instead of driving all the way over to the YMCA just to find out if it does or doesnāt. She reluctantly agreed to go ask another staff member or check, which I didnāt think was a big ask because all you have to do is hit the button. This as well how she explained it to me, acting as though Iām too incompetent to turn a treadmill onā¦I am not sure if she thought it was a prank call or what but, to have this level of professionalism is very disappointing especially being a place that is supposed to focus on community. I understand that people have bad days and arenāt always in their best but, if youāre going to work in customer service you have to do better. She had then told me she would go check as previously stated and she would give me a call. Never received a call, called back 30 minutes later sent to voicemail. Called again, she answered in her same condescending tone being extremely short to me. She had told me that the treadmills do as I was hoping, so I am on my way to ymca. If the treadmills donāt do it well, Iām going to be very upset because I wasted my night; All because someone didnāt feel like...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I started back at the gym in March and weāre thoroughly enjoying it for the cardio and work out, as well as being able to have a safe fun place for our 2 daughters to enjoy while we were in the gym area.
I ran into some health issues heading into the summer and we were unable to participate in our membership. I reached out and spoke with one of the customer service employees, Tara . She was amazing and her detailed explanations as to how they may be able to help with my medical issues by putting a medical freeze on my account and crediting back for some of the time that we had paid for.
Once I provided the doctorās letter, they did as they said they would and really exceeded my expectations overall. I was hoping (not expecting, unfortunately as most businesses donāt treat their customers with much respect) that something would be done to help me, considering we were paying for our membership and not attending the gym at the time of my medical conditions, and they did what any amazing business would do, and Iām happy to write this positive review and give them five stars, as they more than deserve that type of response for their service. Honestly, they did what any well respected local business should do for any of their customers (treat others as you would want to be treated, especially in tough times - Everyone goes through some tough times in their lives and needs some sort of assistance), unfortunately itās rare to see this type of service. Thank you again Tara, and thank you...
