Doylestown Produce — Local services in Doylestown

Buyer beware or buyer be aware? I bought strawberries today only to discover that they were moldy when I arrived home which was only 10 min away- I called to see if I could bring them back tomorrow to save the time of a return trip today - it was then that I was informed you need a receipt for all returns . I drove back because I was confident the cashier would recognize me that I had just been there- no one else was in the store at the time - she did - but alas, they (she and the acting manager ) would not allow the exchange or return.because they could not according to policy requiring a receipt. So, my bad for not reading the sign in the store above eye level at checkout saying receipt was required for all returns and my bad for not taking a paper receipt when asked , my bad for having the expectation of fresh produce at a small boutique retailer who has produce in their name -and their bad for not equipping the sales people / acting management to err on the side of customer service. IF I return, I will be sure to take a paper receipt every time to safeguard against bad produce and bad customer experience. Very disappointed overall, because when I was there I also wanted to purchase Mike’s guacamole but the use by freshness date was tomorrow so I...

Much to recommend: surprisingly wide product selection, great quality more often than not (their shiitake mushrooms are the best anywhere), clean grab-and-go presentation, great pricing, non-cash payments accepted, convenient location and business hours. It's like shopping at Aldi versus Giant/Acme. The checkout line can get long if you go during peak times - but they are open so many hours you can avoid them if you plan ahead. Easy off-and-back-on the 202 bypass - no shopping center/big parking lot traffic...

Great little fruit and veggie place, with a surprising variety of local goods. Good prices too. Parking is way tight and it looks a bit junky outside, but whoever buys for this place knows what they're doing.
