Guys, I’ve been putting off the dentist for way too long. I’ve had bad experiences in the past which led me to having anxiety in conjunction with office visits (dental and medical), but by the end of 2020 I said I was going to get my sh*t together. Mid January I started researching for a new dentist and new ortho, found them both on Yelp-and called and also sent in online inquiries about processed/procedures and New Patient info and everything in regards to first calls and conversations, to first office visit, and now my ongoing treatment plan-has been smooth sailing. I was worried about covid19 and what they’re doing to keep themselves and their patients safe, and I’m very impressed. If anything, dentists and their teams have always known and used PPE during treatment so I’m not too nervous. But let me walk you through their check in process: you drive up and park, call the front desk and check in, then they meet you at the door, do the temp check and bring you directly to your room and close the door. They also have new air filters installed throughout the office to clean the air. They also have tons of hand sanitizer everywhere (by the front door, in the walk way, and in the rooms where they also have sinks and soap stations. They also all have mobile cordless walkie talkies so they can all communicate and make sure there’s not multiple staff and patients walking around and alert each staff member when and where you’re going to the front or back office. My first office visit: smooth check in as serviced above, went in and met with one of the hygienists and she had me wash my hands, and gargle with mouth wash solution. We then went over my medical history, checked my blood pressure then we did my X-rays. Next they measured my gumline/pockets, then she sat with the dentist and went over her findings and they came up with my treatment plan. Keep in mind I stayed away for a few years, my teeth didn’t hurt, I knew a couple fillings had fallen out during 2020 but nothing was sensitive so I figured why the rush? Sooooo. They tell me I need 3 fillings replaced and that I need a deep cleaning 😳😱. Shame on me. But also...I should’ve known. Anyways...I’m on the way to having everything taken care of, 1 week after my initial visit and my fillings and cleaning were completed in 2 separate visits. Oh yah-got a free Phillips ultrasonic electric toothbrush during my 2nd visit and love it! I’m going back tomorrow to have my permanent sublingual retainer removed. I have removable ones now that we’re just replaced (I scheduled with my ortho right after-told ya I got my stuff together). It’s optimal to keep it in, but I’ve had this in since I was 14 and I really want it out so I can have the best access to flossing to keep my mouth happy and healthy.
Anyways, cheers to a better 2021, really really adulting, staying happy and healthy, and to maximizing medical and dental benefits from work.
