*Beware! They change the prices on you as they please!
I ordered takeout directly via their website on a Tuesday at around noon. I had the 3 roll lunch special with a spider roll, chicken tempura roll, and crab roll. I was excited to see a spider roll on this list because you never see it. But I was quickly disappointed when I saw it was mostly just tempura batter. The chicken tasted better than it looked. The crab was just chunks of imitation crab meat. I know it’s imitation but I thought they would at least chop it up before rolling it up, and at least make it look more appealing. All pretty disappointing but I had to choose the cooked rolls since I'm pregnant. My friend had some raw rolls, which she said wasn't great either. One of the rolls she ordered was the eel avocado roll, which came fried in tempura, something I have never seen before. The lunch special came with the saddest miso soup, which had one singular morsel of tofu in it.
So here is where the price conflict comes in - when I ordered online, it said the 3 roll lunch special was $12. I decided to pay cash in person because I didn't want to enter my CC information, be charged any potential CC fees, and businesses like cash better in general. It's a win-win for everybody. My total, as placed through the order online portal (not just looking at the menu), and email confirmation was $25.59. When I got there, the guy told me it was $30. So I told him that my total said $25 online. And he said something about the menu not being updated. So I paid without argument, but looking back, I should have showed him the receipt. $12 for mediocre sushi is already more than I care to pay, but $15 and you tell me the price after the fact? Nah. I understand prices of things have gone up now, but you should update the prices and not upcharge the customer after the fact. It's false advertising. It also doesn't make sense because if I did put in my CC details and prepaid, does that mean I would have only paid the $25?
All of it is very sus. I would skip this place...
Read moreOrdered sushi that was literally wrapped in paper, so we threw it out, we called the place and they responded “we’re sorry, we owe you the $24 in store credit.
Fair. I order again sushi for exactly $23.99 and they said “no, it doesn’t work that way, you have to reorder the same order again” ...
what if I don’t want to? What if i want all the $24 to be in sodas? Money is money right? There’s terms and conditions for store credit for sushi that YOU messed up? The fact that we ordered at least a $1000 worth of sushi from this place and they’re negotiating with me MY money for 30 minutes? My store credit? Because you messed up my order and ruined my dinner by having paper in my sushi? Cheap. Unprofessional. And most of all don’t deserve my business.
Keep my $24, I don’t want a cent. May this be your last $24 you make in the business. Because businesses like yours...
Read moreSecond time visiting Kyoto. Unfortunately due to Covid I haven't been as often as I like. I'm hoping to go more often. First thing I must say is there is a high fun factor in going to Kyoto. The presentation and atmosphere are fantastic. Once you're sat you only interact with machines. You order water and wasabi from a screen and a robot brings it over, very cool. The selection is fantastic. Most dishes have two pieces some are half rolls. Very fresh easy to find and understand what you're getting. Special orders like hand rolls can be ordered from the screen. Then come out quickly on a second belt. You clean up yourself by placing your dishes in a slot. You can then pay right from the same screen. Great place very clean. Busy a lot of the time have to go in off hours for a...
